Mine is the exact same way. Its the way it is designed. I also just changed my rubber wiper inserts. The stock ones that came with the car last August quickly got hardened and began streaking, chattering, etc.

RainX your headlights, fogs, and windshield front/rear. It will help reduce the amount of road crap that stick to them, and make the cleaning of them easier. I always keep a can of de-icer, and a small spray bottle of windshield washer fluid in my trunk area during the winter. Mostly for the side mirrors, but works great for the headlights/fogs too.

If you do bend it, one and maybe two things will happen:
1) the wiper blade will no longer be parallel to the vertical side of the windshield at that end of its sweep;
2) possibly, the top edge of the blade will sweep off the end of the windshield, either wearing out the blade real fast or possibly damaging it, and scratching your paint as well.

So, do you want to "make it right", and have wipers that don't work properly?

FWIW, the 2009-2013 GE Fit wipers park the same way, just not quite as severe...

Good thing that I am not Tim Allen of Home Improvement! I just need to learn to ignore it!

As it is, the wiper is parallel to the outer edge of the windshield at the other side of its "swing". If you bend it, it won't be, and may hit the windshield frame. It's the way it was designed.
