Wind, Weight and MPG

Took a short trip (55 miles) mostly 70mph with 15% at 65mph.
Huge tail wind, gusts to 30mph. Our MPG was 50 and a spec.
Here is the kicker, the two guys in the back seat totaled 450 pounds.

I spent the afternoon patting myself on the back and then headed home.
36mpg. No the boys in the back did not get heavier. Wind for the lose.

Good story. I'm not surprised. The wind really affects your MPGs. I've experienced it several times already. How was the ride with your suspension compressed like that?

@GoBucky

The trip was almost arrow straight. Turns were in town and at city speed.
Coming home against the wind there is one long steep hill, we passed the
trucks. Acceleration was slow, not deadly but slow.

I never really thought about handling.... so it must not have been too far
from normal. I am used to a MT so maybe I am over forgiving of the CVT.

Is this the most perfect car ever? No, but for $18,000 and change I am real
happy.

Good to know that you didn't notice a difference in the handling and ride. I've often wondered what the ride would be like as you approach the 850lb capacity limit.
