Locked Out

Hello folks,

I am writing this because the thing I was supposed to be doing right now I can't do because I am locked out of my vehicle...

Yes, that's right, dumb me left the key (LX) in the passenger seat when I emptied out the car last night. Unfortunately the secondary key is with my significant other who is out of town...

So, I've wondered about this before, in case I ever got in a situation like I am in now, but, is there any way disable the auto-locking feature of the Fit? I don't care for this "feature" it at all. I searched on the Fit forums and couldn't find an answer...

I'd check my car manual, but, it's in the car! :-D

Signed,

All dressed up and no where to go in Minnesota

Yikes, sorry this happened to you!

I actually did not know that the LX auto locked the doors... Skimmed through the manual and didn't seem to find anything about that, maybe somebody will be able to shed some light.

That's why I always keep a key hidden somewhere on or under my cars.

In case you didn't know or forgot, the Roadside Assistance that comes with your new 2015 Fit covers lockouts - at least that's what the paper states.

That's good to know! How does Roadside Assistance unlock the car door? Any chance in the car being damaged by that? Alarm going off?

My boyfriend will be back tomorrow (with 2nd set of keys), though I will be flying out before then. I will just take a shuttle to the airport. The reason it was particularly frustrating was because I was supposed to run out the door & drop off something for a customer before her shop closed (she needs the item for tomorrow), and now she won't get the item, as I leave before they open :-/

After spending an hour searching and reading online, and looking at Honda's website, I am wondering if my car is malfunctioning. It has always locked itself after a period of inactivity, well, not ALWAYS, but often. I am now wondering if it is something I am doing... I pull into the garage, shut the car off, then I remember that I need to take a picture of my mileage, so I turn the car on (not starting it, but just turning it on to get instruments), and take a photo of the mileage, then turn the car off. Maybe there is some programming that causes the car to lock?

Also, with regards to keeping a spare key, I am SO going to do this!!! Does anyone know if you can get spare Honda keys made at Home Depot, or do you have to go through your dealer?

Thank you all so much!

So....they can't unlock it remotely I take it. They can only send out a wrecker and maybe those people can unlock it??
