Question Honda link and carplay

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question, as I am not very Tech-savvy.

I have the EX and touch screen system. Everyone says Hondalink is crap, but i am going to try it out- (I've spent 160 bucks on worse things, being an ex-smoker). Probably wasting my money but curiosity has gotten the best of me, and I want to make the most out of my new car.

My question is this- if the next Fit is released with CarPlay, will current Fit owners be able to download something to make our Head Units be able to use it as well? Or will we just be stuck with the old version with no option to upgrade?

Any insight into this matter (in layman's terms) would be helpful.

My guess is no upgrade. The base operating system of the Mitsubishi radio in our 2015, and probably 2016, EX up, is Microsoft Windows Embedded, with support for Apple's iPods and iPhones, as well as Siri Hands-Free.

Apple's CarPlay is built for Blackberry's QNX operating system, and I believe it is unlikely Honda will do such an extensive upgrade to older vehicles.

It's Windows CE based.

Microsoft dropped the use of the CE name in 2011. Windows Embedded Automotive (also previously known as Microsoft Auto, Windows CE for Automotive, Windows Automotive, and Windows Mobile for Automotive) is an embedded operating system based on Windows CE for use on computer systems in automobiles.

Shouldn't be an issue. The head unit hardware is fully capable. CarPlay is installed on your phone already. Could easily be done with a firmware update.
