LX CVT in the snow
LX CVT in the snow
New York city and long island just got hit with moderate amounts of snow - I needed to get through 5 inches of unplowed snow and some higher snow banks.
Coming from a Jeep XJ 4x4 I figured I was hopeless with the Fit... That's where I was wrong. The tires straight from dealership were firestone FR740's. I tried looking up reviews on them but to no avail... I figured these are new tires or something?
Anyhow I am very very impressed at the snow performance. Handled great and all the cars safety features with handling, well... Handled perfectly. I am no longer afraid to drive in the snow with this car.
Anyone else with good snow experiences?

Just be careful. I won't take my LX in the snow because I don't want my underbody panels to get caught up on some high snow or hard ice underneath. Some decent tires and I'm confident it'll be ok since most of the weight of the car is up front.
i commute on a highway that is not plowed. well, it is eventually, but not when i seem to be on it in the morning....
so, far i put 7000 miles on the car this winter, and i have a good 500 miles in the deep snow. sometimes 6" or more. i have 15" snow tires, and the car does "fairly" well. it is all about momentum driving. you can't stop, or you will get stuck. i went with the tallest tire i could fit in the wheelwell without clearance issues, a 185/65-15.
for the 6MT, VSA off button only works in 1st gear. after that, it will come back on. if you are very aggressive, the VSA will kill the party quick. i am not a big fan of it, and have to disable it completely on days where there is a lot of snow.

We had about five inches or so Saturday morning and had to be somewhere before the plows came through. We had no problems at all with the Fit on factory Firestones. Even though the front air dam is only 5.1" above ground, the tires were riding on about an inch of packed snow.
We had a good bit of snow here yesterday too. Fit handled just fine even on unplowed sections of road with several inches of snow and crossing over a few ruts. Helps that the tires are new even though they're just factory tires.
Overall I'd say I prefer the ECON button ON for driving in the snow ...

I was very happy how the Fit handled a 45 min trip in the snow that actually took 2 hours, due to thick snow on the roads, and more hills than I realized existed on my route home yesterday. I was nervous about sliding on the downhills, or spinning on the uphills, but aside from a warning light of sliding on the dashboard, my Fit managed the roads like a champ. I passed 2 cars stalled on an up-hill. I do not like driving in the snow, and don't have much experience doing so, and I was very pleased with the car's performance.
2015 is amazing in the snow! I bought blizzaks snow tires for the wife but the Fit does so well I don't need them...We even started looking for shitty ice covered roads to see if it would have any problems. This car really could rally
I use traction control above 40mph or if I don't want tires to spin.
