Rear wiper blade... pain in the butt

So I noticed that my original wiper blade on the back was getting worn and tattered. I've had this car since the end of August last year when I bought it new. I grabbed 2 14" and 1 28" at the store a few days ago figuring I'd need front ones soon too. I tried to replace the rear one, got the old blade off the arm oaky, but was disheartened to find that the new blade would not work on the arm. Since I opened one of the new blade packs I figured I'd try it on the front. Glad to see the front arms have normal hooks to accepted standard replacement blades. So I will keep the 28 and a 14 for the front.

Today I went to an auto parts store and got a pair of 22" refills; figured I could trim them to length to fit the rear blade. When I attempted to install I found the new refills were too wide at the top where the metal guides are to fit into the original blade. So, I took them back and grabbed the 14" blade I picked up the other day and tore it apart and used the insert from it to replace the insert in the Honda blade.

Why did they have to make the back arm take a different or special blade? This sucks. I like pretty much everything with this car, but not thrilled with the rear wiper.

This is why I just buy the whole assembly. Takes 1 minute and my time is worth more than I would save buying an insert.

I gotta agree with this. I've been hittin' the NAPA store for blades every Sept-Oct for longer than I can remember.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my dealer sells the inserts for a reasonable price.

I can't even find inserts in the auto parts stores any more. They want to sell you two $15 wiper blades than a $7 pair of inserts.

I find that if you do what is (for whatever reason) called the JDM rear wiper mod, they last a bit longer as dust and dirt are not sitting on them.

My dealer will even put new inserts on for free.

Ans if you do the 'Stiffy" mod on the back it will last much longer. I have only replaced mine once in 6 yrs.

Like those morning erections "Stiffys". I do not have the DIY bookmarked for this one. It is easy to do though.

My latest one

This then begs the question... what does the JDM acronym stand for? (I'm afraid of the answer )

I guess what I should have asked in my original post is are there replacement blade assemblies on the market that fit on the rear wiper arm of the Fit? Since the rear arm is not a standard hook that accepts regular blade replacements I assume that none on the market will work.

I got my arm at a regular auto parts store. Just look up the number. It just clips on like a regular arm.

And shipping from Bernardi to Tennessee for the $4.48 insert.......$14.35 - UPS Ground, for a grand total of $18.83...but I did save the $0.43 cents sales tax by not buying them local!
