Any reason to wait for 2016?

I'm thinking of getting a blue LX 6MT fit. I drove both an EX and LX and honestly thought the EX was worse. I don't like sunroofs (6' tall and I like headroom), the touchscreen was very slow, I don't really care for larger rims, and I just honestly don't see the point in spending more when I won't get much out of it. That being said I am torn between the CVT and the 6MT. The 5th gear in the 6MT is pretty much pointless, and the CVT would undoubtedly get better highway mileage. That being said, I didn't mind the engine or wind noise at 33-3500 rpm at 70-75 mph in the manual. As it stands now, I think I would get the 6MT as it seems more fun to drive, costs less, and I could probably get similar city mileage with less break wear, and I don't normally drive over 75 on the highway anyway.

Has Honda released any info about the 2016 fit yet? If they changed the gearing in the transmission I would buy one in a heartbeat. I might wait to check out the new mazda2 and HR-V, and keep driving my '02 minivan till the 2016 lineups come out. Then again if there won't be any difference from 2015 to 2016 then I'll probably just go for the 6MT and cruise at 68 instead of 75 if I ever have to leave downtown Nashville.

I was thinking about all of this too this week. It became a no brainer for me, when I bought my MY2015 EX with manual last night for $1500 below MSRP and all accessories at cost with no installation fees.

That being said, the touchscreens is one of the worst I have ever used. I am also not a fan of CVT transmissions in a car like this. I'm especially not a fan of the one in the Fit because it's fairly unsporty/sluggish and they try to hide it unsuccessfully with the Sport Mode and paddle shifter which is pointless when your transmission on has one gear. That's why I opted for the more engaging manual.

Honda has not released any information publicly about the MY2016 Fit, but I do know changes planned and can tell you if you aren't happy about the MY15, you won't be happy about MY16. Sorry for being so vague, but I'm at liberty to mention specifics at this point other than it is expected to launch in the second quarter of 2015.

By this do you mean you got like every available accessory? I know I'm going to want rubber floor mats, but I don't know if the FIT branded ones are worth the money. Which accessories did you get?

We got the car late last night, so no accessories were installed. I'm going in this weekend to throw things on if I choose to. Don't know if I'll grab anything at all, though. I'm happy with what's there. Most dealerships will sell you accessories at cost with your car purchase if you just ask.

When will they release the info on the '16 model ?
I'm guessing they will get info out some time before they start to sell ?

When there is a redesign or refresh, noise will be generated long before a vehicle is released. When the vehicle is a carryover year, you'll usually find a manufacture or parts list a couple weeks before they start hitting dealer lots. The latter will be the case for the MY16 Fit.

Unless there is a major deficiency there is little chance that the '16 will be markedly different. There may be changes in minor details like audio if they change systems across model lines. You never know, the EX folks might move up to the luxury of having a volume knob!

I get a chuckle out of people who say "I'm not a liberty to say" when they are using a pseudonym on an anonymous forum! What more liberty do you need?

I use that name all over the place and I don't hide my identity associated with it. If you signed the same non-disclosure agreements I sign all the time and work with the same sensitive material I do, you'd understand.

Having spent many years in industry I know that people who have access to truly sensitive information generally do not brag about it in a public forum.

No reason to wait, unless you just want the newest model...even though it will be the same. I bought my 15 LX as soon as one became available because I wanted to be rid of my Solstice ASAP. I know I paid full sticker since it was the first one the dealer had, but getting rid of the Solstice was worth it.

I'm ready to trade in my 2007 Honda Fit Sport 5MT, which I bought new in January that year. I will test drive the new Fit 6MT, but I was very disappointed to learn the top gear on the 6 is the same as the old 5. High RPMs & road noise at interstate speed are a big reason I'm ready for something different. Other cars I'm considering are the Ford Focus 3 cylinder and Golf TSI. I've owned nothing but manual trans since 1980, and can't bring myself to drive a CVT or any auto trans. I'll also try the Mazda 3, but road noise appears to be an issue. I have a 2 mile each way daily commute, but have averaged 12.7 miles/year with the Fit. I go on several long road trips every year. The Fit has been great in many respects, but is not a pleasant interstate cruiser.

If the android functionality was lied about (it was), they would not dare release the exact same thing for 2016. It WILL most definitely have that fixed. One would think a somewhat better overall screen. Maybe a minor thing or two...it's often the case that an 'extra' at a trim level will become standard the next year. So...minor things, nothing major.

The second quarter? That's between a week and three months from now. That soon?

That was something I hadn't thought about. At this point it looks like I might be waiting until the 2016 fit, HR-V, and Mazda2 come out. Although I'm pretty certain I don't want an HR-V I'll still take a peek at it.

Despite the "hints" being dropped above, I'm not expecting any significant changes for '16. Honda just doesn't seem to work that way. The '15 was a major redesign, and Honda seems to run on a 6-7 year model cycle with a mid cycle refresh (styling usually gets uglier, as the changes are "tacked on" to the original style, IMO). I'm not expecting that until 2018.

I guess I'm in the minority, as I actually like the 6 speed ratios right where they are. I drive in pretty hilly country, and think the ratios show of the rather small engine to good advantage (it is, after all a 1.5 liter 4, not a 5.7 Liter V8).

It would be interesting to get a China-market 5-speed and a US market 6-speed and see which one gets around the track fastest. When you're shifting you're not accelerating!

Why? They could just float another piece of vaporware and sell more cars to gullible geeks without the cost of making hardware. Press releases are cheap!

No way I would trade in a nice functional Gen 1 or 2 for this model. I feel bad that I sold my Gen 1 to daughter 1 and Gen 2 to daughter 2 and bought the Gen 3 for myself. In retrospect I would have kept the Gen 2 and let my daughter drive the Gen 3.

If the prior gens are old, damaged, not running great, then yes, trade it in.

I'm totally happy with my Gen 3. Just enjoy the Gen 2 more. I am kind of bummed because I am going to be in the market for another Fit or maybe an HRV, and I'm just a bit shy of getting one of them within the next year, unless I hear of some slight improvements.

IMO, the Fit branded ones are a joke. I wish I had spent the money on aftermarket ones. They don't hold much slush, so the rug under it is still a mess.
