Dipstick Question

Just be thankful that we are not BMW owners. They have no dipstick AT ALL.
You need to drain and measure the amount of oil to get an indication of the amount. Yeah, they have a level; sensor, but they have been known to fail (one of Car & Driver's long-term test cars had the issue).

Going to try this.
I wonder if you could remove that plastic tip? Just wondering. Not going to try it on mine.

Now my jeep liberty renegade had the cable type dip stick with the round plastic end which was a pita to read so I know what you are talking about but unsure if these on the fit were flat with the plastic ends or not and I don't know if mine was removed or replaced? Anyone have pictures? I can take a pic of mine tomorrow.

Just for the record, I had a 2010 Honda Fit Sport and I think it had a "regular" all metal dipstick. I don't remember having the same problem.
The plastic tipped dip stick is on my new 2016 Gen 3.
So at some point I think Honda cursed/blessed us with this change.
If you could prove and convince me switching dipsticks would give me accurate readings and no problem? I'd be willing to seek out a used one.

Sorry to extend this old thread, but I just purchased a used Honda Fit and everything is fine, except for how much I can't stand the plastic tip of the dipstick. It is so difficult to read! I read through the replies and tried the 'rolling on a paper towel' method, but honestly, I'm still frustrated. I'm a bit hopeful to hear that earlier versions may have used a metal dipstick, but does anyone know if it is interchangeable, or possibly found a suitable replacement?

Dipstick
I have had two Fits, since 2008. With my 2019 Fit EX, I insist that the guy who is looking after me lets the car sit for 10 minutes, and then we both check the dipstick together (after the oil change). I also insist that
we check the oil % indicator, because sometimes they forget to reset that as well. My regular guy has a good attitude, and he knows I want this....so he does it with a smile. Not all of them would do that.

Dipstick frustration continued
Here i am a year later than the last post complaining about it some more. I thought it was because I'm a dumb woman🤣 glad to know its not just me. I ended up here because I was wondering if there was an aftermarket replacement that was metal like every other car I've ever had. It is useless for me to even try to read the stupid dipstick. I get so frustrated. I thought of painting it white (sorry, I'm an artist) so I could see it better but pretty sure thats not a good idea🤣🤣🤣

SHARPIE Permanent Marker ( Extreme Fade Resistant ) black magic marker ? Yes , it can be bit difficult to read , especially after oil change . Make sure the car is on level ground .
