Hesitation from park to reverse

I have been having significant hesitation when I go from park to reverse. Seems to take a few seconds for the transmission to engage. So much so the car would roll back if I did not have my foot on the brake. Anyone having this type of issue?

I didn't notice but will check later. You're parked on flat level ground?

I am parked on pretty level ground. I first noticed it happening in my garage. I do not seem to have any other problems. I will check if it happends in drive later tonight. It is very evident from park to reverse in the morning on my way to work. Thanks for the response!

I'm not observing that problem...you're driving automatic yes?

Definitely check again and I would bring it in if it is evidently still happening.

G'luck.

Having gone through a complete CVT failure on my EX I'd say with those symptoms you should take it to a dealer and have them take a look, even if the 'R' light showing reverse isn't flashing. At least you will have started a dialog if something worsens.

I've seen the same thing on my LX automatic. Putting the car in drive kicks in immediately, but there's a several second lag when I put it in reverse - the gas just revs the engine and the transmission acts like it's totally disengaged. Is this not normal? I just wrote it off as something about CVTs until I saw FitFolkSinger's comment.

I get the same thing. I sort of attributed it to the computers processing what was happening.

I get a short delay shifting out of Park and into either Reverse or Drive. Its mildly annoying but I'm guessing its normal for the Fit.
