I'm just amazed at all the 100deg temps everywhere, and you guys talk about it like it was a normal occurrence. I couldn't stand those high temps, especially the high humidity. I don't know how you do it, you must all stay inside during the dog days of summer. It got down to 49deg here last night, good sleeping weather. I still haven't had to use my a/c.

Yeah when it gets above 95 I generally stay inside until 8:30pm or so or mow the lawn real early or something.

I got used to it eventually. Nightly lows here are 68-76 and that's nice sometimes when I'm out late.

Overall i've been underwhelmed by my AC, compared to:
a 99 camry well cared for and
a 97 civic dx that I installed a full AC system in, with a beat up condensor and an evaporator that was in a junkyard car for a couple years collecting pine needles.

The fit ac might be a little better than the civic while idle but at any speed is much warmer

Yuip...That's why I am here. By the way, we don't just stay inside. It will be 100+ till end of September. Can't stay locked up. You just learn to ignore it...sort of.

'15 EX here. No problems with my AC. In fact, it works better than the AC in my '09 Fit, so far.

Another 400 miles in 99 degree, high-humidity weather. No sweat.

Just did a road trip through 90 to 99 degree heat everyday for two weeks. The AC in my EX works great. Last day of the trip at night it was 79 degrees out according to the on board temp gauge and we had to turn the dial to warm because it was freezing in the car.

Just to update my earlier post, after a collision my AC is much colder at all speeds, it must have just been low or maybe a bad sensor (4 pages of parts listed on the 'fender bender+bag' repair).

for anyone with warmer-than-desired AC, you may just want to bring in to a shop for an AC 'check-up'...

AC not cold enough

Finally took my Fit into the dealer to have the AC checked. It checked out at 47 degrees at the center vent. The tech said that the factory acceptable range for the temp and humidity that day was 38-55 degrees. So, they did nothing. Here is what is working for me now:
1. Turn on AC full blast at coolest setting on recirculate.
2. Open all windows for about a block to let hot air out.
3. After a block or so, roll up windows and let AC continue at full blast for another couple of minutes.
4. By this time, the interior should be cooling off, so turn the fan down to 3.
5. As the interior gets cooler, adjust fan as desired (it can be too loud on 3 to talk on the Bluetooth phone).
6. When interior is cool enough, switch to fresh air intake from recirculate.
The Fit's AC does not put out like my '12 Pilot, but for me, following the above procedure works.

It's really sunny where I live and cars with a lot of large windows always feel like scorched earth until the windows are tinted, the tint can put your AC on the winning side of the differential equation of sun vs. R134a

AC not Cold Enough

OK. Since I essentially got nowhere with the dealer (who would not even run a system check), I took my car into the local Goodyear shop near my office today and had them check the AC. Freon was down 50% and there was a low side o-ring missing that was causing a slow leak. They measured the center vent temp with AC at full blast recirculate at 54 degrees. After they put in the o-ring and recharged the Freon, it is now at 43 degrees. I have sent the $94 bill to the Honda dealership, so we will see what happens.

My advice is to insist that the dealer check the system and do not let them rely on the claim that the center vent temperature falls within the factory range. I have read somewhere that this is a somewhat common problem with new cars. The manager at the Goodyear store said it happened to him with his new F150. The Fit AC will work just fine if given the chance.

Get that freon level checked

First thing to check if you're having cooling probs and/or evaporator icing up....get the freon level checked by the dealer. They seem to not fully charge them from the factory. Mine was doing this and all it needed was an evacuate & recharge, nothing leaking or broken, just a bit low on freon. Now I'm getting 33 F at the vents on 85 F hot day measured with a laser temp gauge!
