2015 Fit Steering Column Lock or not?
Hello all new 2015 Fit EX - Enjoying the ride.
EX model - Does the steering column lock, once power off. With key-less entry and CVT, would like to know if steering column locks. Many new cars are now saying they do not, and found in manual something like "the manuals lock, but CVT are exception" Can someone confirm this for me.
We want to tow it on a tow dolly, but our Acme Tow dolly says wheel must turn freely. If it locks how do we do this and not drain battery, loose memory, etc.
Thank you for helpful responses in advance.

Powering off locks the wheel, power on obviously unlocks.
Not sure why your tow dolly requires you to have the front wheels unlocked, you shouldn't have to. All you need to to do is keep the front wheels on the dolly secured, and leave the parking brake off so the back wheels spin freely.
You cannot flat tow a CVT.
You CAN flat tow a 6MT. A tow bar and universal wiring exists. You can leave the car in accessory mode and the wheel will unlock. The RV electrical system will be tied in parallel with the Fit's battery so it doesn't run down.
Honestly, I'd prefer a dolly. Sure it can cause uneven wearing of the tires of you tow a lot...but thats what rotating your tires does to keep the wear even. If one doesn't like doing this, then there is always a car flatbed which negates all said issues.

Actually, checked this tonight, and my cvt does not seem to lock the column. Very hard to turn w no power steering and not rolling, but unless the lock has a lot more play in it than any other I've seen in older cars it seems to be free...

Thanks for checking into it -
What you experienced is what I am seeing too. I believe Toyota does not have locking steering columns any more, so maybe Honda has done the same.
I called Honda, not really a clear answer, to technical for clear answer at level one help. My big check is to see that if the FOB is in car does it automatically unlocks steering without pushing start it to ACC mode. In any case good to know, if it will lock up or should not, and when you leave with key then it locks. Plan on looking into this more. I Will let others know if I find out anything.
