Does anyone know what this is?

This is little bit smaller than a pack of cigarettes under the front passenger seat. The driver's seat does not have one of these.

Do those yellow wires go to it? Might be the air bag module for the seat sensor.

Like GolNat says, it's most likely the sensor that detects the presence/absence of a front seat passenger.

Or it's the government mandated GPS tracking device built into all new cars.

Lmao, good one Uncle Gary! Although sadly we are probably going to see something like this pushed in our lifetime, if it hasn't been already....

The yellow wires are the color for airbag system wires. So I'm 90% sure thats for the airbag weight sensor.

There is a sensor in the passenger seat to detect the weight of the passenger so if you have kids sitting in the front it will disable the airbag as airbags cause more harm than good when used on people smaller than a certain size. This is not in the drivers seat because no kids should be driving the car.

It is the Safety Warning Unit, part# 81169-T5R-A01.

Streetfit hit the nail on the head. Its part of the weight sensor to disable the air bag system when: 1. the seat belt is unbuckled but has weight on it, 2. when the weight is too light and seat belt buckled.

I dunno about the '15s, but the manual for '16 Navi says updates are via USB thumb drive--so I think the data is stored in flash internally and the DVD drive is history. This is a good thing.
