DON'T BUY Door Edge Guards : door welds are too thick

The 2015 Fit LX CVT doors edge stamping are uneven. The Door Edge Guards don't slip in completely and cause the guards to rub against the body paint when a door is opened and closed. I pulled off all 4 door edge guards.

Do they just pull off? have edge guards on the doors and the wheel wells from the dealer. I hate they way they look. I was going to pull them off but I didnt know if they had adhesive or something on them.

Toyota OEM door edge guards are much better as they only stick to the outside with a leading edge where a door will likely to get hit. I'm thinking of getting those for my car.

FWIW, I don't think it's the "welds", but the layer of seam sealer that Honda applies to all their crimped and welded edges that's a bit thick.

The sealer is to prevent rust from starting where the door panels are crimped together. Id rather have that than door edge guards.

Uncle Gary is correct about the seam sealant...

OP - assuming you used the seam sealant cutting tool to cut the sealant before applying the edge guards? I recall on my civic, it took several tries for me to get a good fit.

I placed cardboard over the edge guards and used pliers to take them off. Then I cleaned up the area with gasoline and touched up the scraped paint. Took the edge guard parts back and got a 100% refund from the dealer. But I didn't check the new Fits on the showroom floor to see if the sheet metal pressing is adequate now for the edge guards.
