My dealership warned me only to play CDs that were factory printed. They said that if I burned my own and the CD got stuck in the player, it would not be covered under warantee. ...That just doesn't sound right to me. Anyway, is it true? I would like very much to put together some mp3 CD's for the road. ( 2015 fit)

 

As the owner's manual points out, just don't use stick-on labels, and you should be fine. I burn my own CDs and use "printable" CDs, that I label using my inkjet printer.

Truth to tell, I carry my music library of MP3 files on a couple of thumb drives in the car these days.

Oh! Thank you--The dealership told me they did not cover privately made discs because the files could cause problems with the computer. It really bothered me to think the CD player might jam so easily, but if it's just labels then that's more understandable and easily avoidable.

 

Honda says that CD-Rs will work in the CD player. There is an easy way to tell if the dealer is feeding you BS. Their lips move.

 

The only issues I've had with files causing problems with the computer is that the head unit is limited on the length of the file name it can read. I had to rename a few songs on my thumb drive so the unit could "see" them. Otherwise, it would just skip over them.

 

The player will try to read the meta data and perhaps ISRC codes but it won't effect the playing of a CD or not.
What you don't want to put in are CD's with stick on labels for heat can loosen them and the CD will jam. So be careful with the CD's you buy from local entertainment.
