Lanewatch Camera Alignment - BEWARE!!!

If you are in the diagnostic menu when you hold HOME POWER and EJECT, go to FUNCTIONAL SETUP---->LANEWATCH.....

DO NOT CLICK ALIGNMENT!!! Doing so puts you into the utility and now you are committed, you cannot back out of it, and it erases any previous alignment data. Doing a factory reset won't fix this.

This requires a test pattern which I found on this thread. You can print on an 8.5x11m however the actual test pattern you get from Honda is the size of a projector screen!

Anyways long story short, after about an hour of f........g around I got the test pattern to work, and now the red guideline is near equal to the back bumper which is where it should be. What a pain in the arse!

I have not been able to find the procedure paper that the honda video talks about, but if anyone has it let me know. Now that I know roughly where this thing goes for the alignment utility to work its not as hard.

Be aware that a dealer will charge you $250 to do this alignment for you, according to my Honda contact. Thats not cheap. I dont blame them for the annoyance it is.

just trying to save time for you guys. Curiosity got the best of me when I was looking for secret menus on the HDMI lockout and I'm licking my wounds from it ha!

That, sir, is the very definition of a user interface design flaw. No way to go back? Could not they have an undo? Is there a warning of any kind? Maybe there should be a dealer password, or at the very least a disclaimer than this feature is only for service techs.

Agreed. They should allow you to exit the aiming test without erasing the previous alignment data. It has enough lockouts already. Id skip anymore passwords and put a disclaimer. Its like dont press the red button!!

Drove last night and the alignment is still not right. Gonna have to play with it again today.

I'm wondering what you were doing that required you to be in that menu in the first place.

Working in debug mode to override the HDMI lockout.

For those interested here is thr exact procedure from honda. Honestly you can make your own test pattern and stand. I beleive its 4x3ft.

The part# for the test pattern is 070AK-T2AA110. Its pricey but i guess if you wanted to do it based on honda procedure. Also if you buy the sheet, make your own stand. Honda overcharges for the stand around $500 bucks for a cheesy metal tube frame! Ridiculous!

Yeah! I don't think I'm too worried about that.
