Driver window grinding noise
My window has been making this noise for a few weeks now, and has trouble when I open and close it. Finally got the chance to check and saw that it is out of shape.
Is this covered by the warranty? Or is this considered wear and tear, thus not covered by base warranty? 8 month old car and already giving me trouble.

i'd imagine that has to be covered by warranty. there's been numerous people (including myself) that have issues with window rattle - on any given corner - when partially rolled down. not sure if anyone has had luck with getting that fixed, but your issue is much more obvious, so hopefully it will be quickly resolved through the dealer.
It should be covered under warranty. I just had my driver's front window replaced under warranty because it had a bubble in the glass. It also solved the rattling problem that I had complained about and they said they couldn't fix. Even went so far as generating a customer service ticket with American honda.
They did cover it under warranty. They ordered a part for me. I'm anxious because it might wear out my window motor because it is noticeably slower during operation. I was fine with the dashboard being uneven, but not this.
This is so frustrating because my husband's second hand 2008 Fit Sport is working fine, for a car that's well over 100k mileage... I think because it's from Japan. He has to change struts, etc, but those are easy to spot and well expected.

I understand the frustration, I've only owned since March and I've had the window and the wheel liner replaced under warranty. I'm still trying to get them to address the front bumper misalignment.
This is why I don't like buying first year production vehicles, but I got forced into it. The running gear has been great so far, but I have to say the fit and finish is lacking.

I agree that it drives well, and love all the technology they installed standard, but the finish leaves much to be desired.
Btw, the rattling windows is also noticeable to me, when I drive 60-70mph. Whereas my husband's 2008 Fit is unaffected.
For me, the rattling happened when the window was cracked about 2 inches or so. Then it started rattling when the window was closed. Usually when going around curves, but also when getting buffeted by the wind. It was really annoying. I had the dealership look at it, but they say they couldn't duplicate the problem. I didn't press it because I had the window scheduled to be replaced and luckily after the replacement, it hasn't resurfaced. I'm crossing my fingers though.
My fiance's car was on it's last leg so I bought the Fit and gave her my 4Runner. It wasn't my choice to get the 1st year production, but it is what it is. I would keep pressing them on your window rattle. You pay all this money on a car, and it shouldn't have these issues. Good luck!

for me, 2nd day of ownership was when i noticed that the window wasn't working properly (read about it in my blog i guess). i didn't test the power windows while at the dealer as it was a hot day, and ive never had issues with windows on a brand new car.
so to those new buyers, CHECK THE POWER WINDOWS during delivery.

I had an issue with a window rattle with it cracked utilizing the window vents I had installed. The fix was to stuff sound denting cloth in between the run channel and frame of the door. The noise is back after less then 6 months so will need it fixed again.
Yes, I'm surprised it took less than 3 hours to fix it. I commend the service specialist who took care of my car. Will come back for oil change to show my gratitude.
