Windshield nicks?

My Blu-J is just a few weeks over one year old and has about 15K miles. The windshield has dozens of tiny nicks in it. No, I've not driven it thru any sandstorms or hailstorms. Mostly freeway miles in San Diego area. I don't recall having this problem with any of my previous cars (all driven here in SD) and wondered if anyone else was experiencing something similar with their Fits. Thanks!

Yep

We have double your mileage and I would guess double the nicks.
Almost all highway use.

We live in southern New Mexico, lots of wind and airborne sand. I do not see
any abrasion on the windshield but lots of nicks. Guess the windshield is just
another consumable item now?

The Fit has the softest windshield glass I've ever seen on a car. On my '09, I actually scratched it cleaning it with a damp cloth.

Thanks for the posts. At least, I don't feel all along in having this problem. Guess I'll just plan on replacing the windshield in 4-5 years.

I bought a S2000 from someone who commuted from Temecula to SD everyday and it had very similar nicks on the windshield and bumper. I think it's normal for the area.

Kbonus: when you decide to replace the windshield in a few years you will have the choice to replace OEM or generic at a price diff of a few hundred $$$'s. If you have very small nicks or a large one they may not be fixable. Full replacement may be only alternative. I just went thru this a few months ago on my 2011 Fit. I chose OEM.

Thanks for the info, jmsc. Given the softness of the OEM window, I"m thinking maybe a generic would actually be better. I'll look into that further when the need arises. For now, I'm making sure not to stay behind in gravel or sand trucks......

i think it is the design of the hood/windshield angle. my windshield has a bunch of small chips in it from rocks that get kicked up from other cars on my commute.

i did an inspection today and i was scraping the old sticker and i could not get the last bit of glue... turned out to be another chip in the windshield.
