I once bought a used California Highway Patrol interceptor with no power steering because of the speeds it would reach on the desert.

Was a 1966 Plymouth Belvedere I with a 440 Ramcharger engine and 3 speed lock-up Torqueflight transmission.

Just about NASCAR ready for a liquidation price from the state surplus auction.

Not the gas mileage you'd want today.

Bought my Fit in December. I traded a 2008 Corolla. That car was a pos. Went through 2 or 3 computers, which luckily, Toyota paid for. That thing threw codes on a regular basis. Glad to be rid of it. I'm hoping this Honda doesn't have problems like that thing did. Toyotas aren't the high quality vehicles they used to be.

Had the computer (ECM) fail on my 2008 Corolla too but the car was otherwise reliable.

The clock died on both my 2003 and 2008 Corollas. Part was $250 but Toyota extended warranty covered it.

I had ongoing problems with the codes. Something about air leaks and exhaust gasses iirc. I had to jury rig one of the exhaust sensors with a bushing to keep it from throwing codes. Had problems with the MAP air sensor and once I had to replace the intake manifold gasket. And no, I never overheated the engine.

Only One Issue

Love my 2016 FIT. Comfortable and great gas mileage.

Only 2 issues I have

1. I will now only use dealer for oil changes because of the cover issue. Will be sure the plastic fasteners are changed each time. Dealer is close by and gave 6 free changes as a bonus.

2. Am now paranoid about low front end clearance and stay far, far away from curbs and parking blocks.

Might have gone elsewhere if I had read Fit Freak before buying.

Front ground clearance on the '15 is MUCH better than the '09 Fit Sport I had. There were literally places around here I couldn't take the '09 because the nose would hit the ground pulling into or out of the driveway. Honda even warned about this in the owner's manual, so they knew it was an issue.

I just bought a 2016 a week ago. SO far, I love it. I went from a 2005 Lexus IS300 and the gas milage is a blessing coming from my fit. I know it feels very generic but, what is up with no carpet, cargo walls are made of this shitty material that flexes and bends at a hands touch. I'm scared to put anything in the cargo area and rip or damage the walls. I can do without the rear and side cam. Also the seat material seems a bit weak and will snag on pocket rivets.I hate the rear head rests as they get in the way when put up. Plus when there is a rear passenger, rear head rests are a must to put up or they bother your back.

At 18K, I've yet to damage the cargo walls, but yes, it is probably inevitable. I recommend the cargo mat which will catch grocery store and landscape material spills.

We put the rear headrests down when not in use which is a cool feature for increasing visibility. Compared to our 2002 Odyssey, you have to remove the headrests and stow them in a pocket somewhere which is a real PIA.

Do you know of any aftermarket cargo mats that are good fitting quality?

Does it fit correctly? Do you remember where you got it?

honda parts unlimited dot com
08U45-T5A-100 | Genuine Honda TRAY, CARGO (BLACK) - HondaPartsUnlimited.com
part# 08U45-T5A-100

Light weight, fits well and flexible enough to leave it there when I have the seats folded flat. No issues and easy to pull out and hose or dust off.

I got mine at the dealer and it fits fine.

Only issue was the plastic box I use to hold stuff. Shook round till I got a set of 4 stick on plastic feet at Walmart.

Not perfect, but a pretty good little car.

I bought a new 2015 EX with CVT in April 2015. It now has 27,000 kilometers (about 16,700 miles) on it. I live in eastern Canada where we have a rather nasty winter, but I put 4 Michelin snow tires on it and it worked well. I've had the same issue with the engine splash cover as many others. I also had a super annoying rattle up over the headliner, which I was able to fix myself. The door handle brackets were replaced in a recall. But other than that, I've had no problems. The practicality of the back seats is amazing. And the gas mileage is also great. Some owners seem to complain about the fit and finish of their Fits, but mine seems to be well put together. My wife and I drove to South Carolina back in April. It's certainly not as smooth and comfortable on a long trip as an Accord. But I don't expect it to be. After all, it's a sub-compact economy car. I only have two complaints: I wish the front seats would slide back just a little bit further, and I wish it had a little bit bigger gas tank. Would I buy another one? I guess it depends on how reliable this one proves to be over the next 100,000 kilometers or so.

Just took wife and daughter to the airport.

The magic seats were great!

I've have my '16 Aegean Blue Fit EX for about 3 weeks now. For the most part, I really like the car. It has nice lines and doesn't look like a hamster box. I think it looks unique. I don't think it's noisy or terribly uncomfortable. I love the room in the back and the fact that the rear seats fold flat. Gas mileage is awesome compared to my '05 Accord and that my weekly gas costs have dropped by two thirds. There is a lot more I like about the car however, I'll get back on topic...regrets.

I don't know if I have regrets but there are things I wish I would have known. I probably would have made the same decision to buy the Fit. I would just rather have made an informed decision instead of feeling let down.

1. The infotainment system. I knew NOTHING about infotainment systems/head units prior to shopping for a new car. I thought if I had bluetooth I'd be golden. The dealer showed me how to pair my phone, import contacts and make calls. schweetZ! I did not know however, that all the extra goodies were not compatible with my Nexus 6P Android phone. Honda Link, AHA, Maps....no joy unless you're apple. I should have asked but didn't think about those things. No carplay or android auto. another bummer.

I'm considering a different head unit that is Android compatible but I would lose my backup cam lines, the lane watch cam, and the cool trip information data screen.
or
I could switch to an iPhone 7 when they come out in September. From what I understand, the iPhones must be plugged in to an HDMI/USB dongle contraption to get HondaLink, AHA, Maps, etc to work.

2. the USB port is 1 amp. WTF? So IF if get an iPhone, plug the dongle from the phone to USB, the 1 amp is not going to charge the phone, just make it drain more slowely when using nav. If I want to charge, i have to plug it in to one of the power outlets. Honda must've had a lot of 1st generation phone stuff in surplus when they designed the head unit and USB ports.

3. If I put the steering wheel low enough for my comfort, I can't see the top 1/4th of the instrument panel..55mph thru 85, the top of the tach, the headlight/foglight indicators on the right panel.

4. the stereo sound. I wasn't expecting a lot from this budget guy but it sounds as tinny as the AM radios I had in my youth. The saving grace - the sound from my phone's Google Music over bluetooth sound ...pretty ok.

5. When I listen to FM radio and my phone is navigating, the nav directions (coming from bluetooth) do not duck the sound. Like, when google maps says take exit 50 in 1/2 mile, I wish the radio sound would lower so I can hear bluetooth directions. I know this is possible because when a phone call comes in the radio stops playing for the duration of the call until I hang up.

That's it for me. These aren't really complaints but me wishing I'd have thought of these things before I pulled the trigger.

Cheers and enjoy your Fit!

The only regret I have is that I could not rent a Fit before I bought one. The best way to know the car you want to buy is to drive it around for a week during a vacation or a business trip. About ten years ago I was able to rent a Civic, otherwise, Hondas have been mighty unusual at car rental agencies.

It is Honda's policy to not sell to car rental agencies. It doesn't want a lot of trashed used Hondas on the used car lots, even the lots of the rental agencies themselves.

Regarding the comment on the USB port not being able to charge your phone. I have an iPhone 6 plus and on a 6 hour trip using its GPS and streaming music while plugged into the USB port I arrived at my destination with a fully charged phone. I have a 2016 Fit LX.
