First Fit

hey all,

I am excited to say i am picking up my first fit tomorrow!
I've been looking fit awhile and believe now is a good time before my current car depreciates too much.
Got a 2015 manual in passion berry pearl. Love the color.
Didn't get the deal of the century because it was the only manual purple fit my dealer could source from within 5 states! So yeah, free windows tinted, $500 off msrp, and a fair trade was the best I could manage.
I believe it will be a good little machine.

My daughter would kill for that purple. Then she'd frantically try to learn how to drive, then how to drive stick...Congrats on the new EX 6MT!

If I were you, I'd scrutinize the front bumper to see if it's misaligned. That seems to be the one thing Honda is unable to fix. Even if it's done right, people have had it develop over time so you're not completely safe, but better to not receive delivery of a defective car imo.

Good luck and enjoy your car.

as in eye-balling it where it connects to the front quarters?

If you do a search for misaligned front bumper you'll see a lot of posts on it. The gap where the front bumper meets the quarter panels on each side is not uniform.

I'm certainly one to notice small details, but haven't noticed any issues here. I'm not going out of my way to find any either. I wonder about some of these misalignment posts. We're talking about a relatively inexpensive car. At double the price, you may find similar flaws, and a similar lack of response from the dealer. Just saying.

Says the guy with the wrinkled leather.

My front bumper actually moves up and down if I lift the front end. It's not only cosmetic, this could be a safety issue in the long term if mounts sheer off by the constant rocking while driving. If you don't have that issue right now, great but others have reported it after a few thousand miles.

well, the dealer called this morning and said that the other Honda dealer they were sourcing it from backed out last minute. So looks like no Fit for now.

Mine was nice and snug when I bought the car, but over a summer of being bounced on the rough roads around here, it's sagging and becoming worse over time. I can move the entire bumper cover up and down, closing and opening the gap.

You could order one. Here in Toronto there are virtually no Fits at dealers. All are orders which take 4-6 weeks. You'll probably get a 2016.

well, the reason I was going to be able to get a fit is because of the slightly discounted price ($500 off the 2015 msrp which is already $200 lower than 2016 msrp) combined with a good trade.
my trade-in is a 2013 fiat Abarth 500c which depreciates rapidly so I think the numbers would be too far off by the time a 2016 fit would arrive if I ordered one now and couldn't get it for the same price anyways.
the dealer said they will let me know if a 2016 pops into another dealer soon that could possibly be snagged.
the dealer that backed out really sucks because I know they don't have a buyer. Long story though.

Could you go to the other dealer and buy the car?

Yes, and I would have when I was first at that dealer and saw the color but they offered me $11,700 for my abarth that only has 15000 miles. (Well below all trade offers and values) I gave them a fair shot and the numbers were just too far off.
So I went to dealer close by that we bought my wife's civic from and let them try and the deal was much better. They said they found one they could get in that color. I didn't realize it was the same one until they called to tell me it had over 600 miles on it (whereas they originally said it would have 200). Then I knew it had to be the one I saw a couple hours away.
Unfortunately, that dealer knows where we got my wife's civic and put 2 and 2 together and decided not to let my local dealer have the car last minute as my dealer was half way to theirs with the other Honda they were going to swap.

So yeah, I could buy it from them but won't after how they handled this. I gave them a fair shot and never tried to go around them. They were just too high on price and too low on trade. They don't deserve to get the sale.
