6mt or cvt decision
I find the CVT hate odd as well. Manual Fit drivers are like those employees who won't do anything out of their job description, or yell at the neighborhood kids to get off their lawn. They can't handle change very well and when it happens, they're bitter that the world has left them behind, unable to cope.

I've had plenty of manuals in the past and I don't feel I'm missing anything with a CVT. Whatever. You drive yours. I'll drive mine.

Manuals faster? Hahaha
I drive my CVT because it's faster than the manual.
I haven't seen any N/A manuals faster, old or new. Or even boosted manuals (with one high boosted one {older Fit} as an exception).
Maybe the elevated planes of consciousness that they experience is due to lack of oxygen from all the hand and foot movement. At least it's good cardio for them. Unfortunately, us CVT drivers can eat a bag of chips while cruising forward quicker than them regardless.
**Starting trouble**
I forgot to mention I get better fuel economy while going faster or as slow. I never gave a 'shift' about manuals. Haha!

I haven't seen anyone talk about the cold equations of cost. When I was running my numbers -- assuming the $800 price difference between CVT and 6MT holds and using Honda's stated MPG figures (which personally I think are a bit dubious, but that's another thread) -- I found that I would put about 110K miles on my odometer before getting any mpg payback with a CVT. For me, that's at least 10 years, probably more, at current gas prices. (Higher gas prices will shorten the duration, and lower prices will lengthen it.)

I drive a big pickup truck with an automatic transmission now, so the fit I've got on order is a manual, basically so I can get a "driving experience" (or whatever the romantic words you want to use are) as far apart as possible. Just miss driving a manual, I guess.
My 3 other cars are manual - Integra, SLK & RAV4.
So I've got a CVT Fit this time.
I drive CVT Fit for daily commute (through heavy traffics in Los Angeles area) and manual cars in weekends and/or for spirited driving.
BTW, for 3rd gen Fit, Honda should have put a taller 6th gear. I would hate to see 3000+ rpm when I when cruise at hwy speeds.

Heh. When I'm not playing in the twisties, I'm hypermiling (of course, carrying momentum through turns is an important part of that). Any kind automatic would cost me a bunch in gas.

And just what is wrong with 3000 RPM at highway speed? That's only a bit faster than what my Harley-Davidson turns at highway speed, and I just rolled the Harley over the 200,000 mile mark. Are you saying the Honda is less durable than a Harley?
Its often strange what you find on the internet and what you see in the real world. Pretty much everyone I know drives an automatic. I think some people would look down at me thinking if I had a manual, that I must be cheap or couldn't afford an automatic. Maybe it because me and my peers are a little older and for the most part view shifting as added unnecessary work.
In the last couple of months, I visited two local dealers in my quest for a CVT. I had no luck at either and was told that there weren't any available in the whole state of Florida. Both dealers had a couple of new manuals on the lot, gathering dust, and were practically willing to give them away. My Japanese made Fit LX CVT is in transit and I will hopefully have it in a few weeks.

Well, if they're looking for takers, I'll gladly accept one if they're actually giving them away.
They lose some customers like this. I actually wanted a Ford Fiesta St over my Fit and would have purchased one had they made an automatic too.
As someone that had a 2015 Manual EX.... it was totaled by someone rear ending me. I have to say as a driver I enjoyed the fit's spirited driving. And my longer arms and legs helped get over the odd placement of the shifter, as I've owned and driven many manual cars, but somehow with a higher than normal seat, instead of closer to the ground, and the clutch, it didn't feel as at home than my MR2; and my wife being shorter didn't appreciate the off placement as well. I didn't enjoy the fact that cruising at 80mph resulted in 4K rpm noises...
so now that my Fit is totaled, I am looking to replace with a 2016 CVT instead of a Manual for the above reasons.
