Better Brakes on LX?
Better Brakes on LX?
2015 LX 6-speed
The only thing I wish was better is the brakes.
They aren't spongy or anything (like they need to be bled), but seem to need a lot of pressure to stop the car.
Anyone else feel the same?
Has anyone done something to improve this?
Thanks,

Well accoridng to consumer reports analysis dry braking from 60-0 goes up to 132 ft. The lower distance braking in the segment are sonic 128, fiesta 3 cyl 125. The worst performance fiesta se 142, nissan versa 140. So it is average stop distance. You can always upgrade to perfomance that it may get you to 125(i think)
Check the front brake discs for efficiency of braking. The shinier the disc indicates the brake pad are biting onto the disc to produce braking power. In most cases one is better than the other. The brakes have to be forced hard during run-in period for the servo pumps to press the brake pad to working distance with the disc. During this period the brake pedal should be getting higher and higher each time and improves braking with less pedal pressure. If still not sure have mechanic to check if air is inside the system.
I'd suggest adjusting the rear brake shoes.
They will benefit greatly from being tighter against the drums (that way they will do more of the work)
During the first several thousand miles they don't contact the drum 'squarely'.
I do this adjustment once a year on our GD.

Yes! I have lightweight wheels and tires Too much pedal pressure will have you feeling like you are going to go through the windshield. I think it stops good enough now.
