Question Collision Repair Insurance Issue

So I am completely new to the whole getting hit by another driver and needing repairs. I received an estimate for bumper cover repairs however upon the car being inspected at the the body shop, the body shop noted a crack in the grill of my car not included in the insurance company's original estimate. The insurance company noted the body shop needs to file a supplemental claim request. How long on average would it typically take for the body shop to get a replacement and fix my car?
The parts on the estimate will be preordered and ready to go but I assume they will have to wait for the re-estimate and supplemental claim to be approved to order the parts associated with grill damage. Damage to the grill shown below.

I am new to these types of things, so please feel free to explain it to be like I am a total idiot

This stuff happens all the time. That's why the first look is an "estimate". Time probably depends upon availability of the part as much as anything. IF the body shop has good experience with that adjuster/insurance company, they may order the part while they submit expecting it to get approved. Ask them.

Yeah, if the part is available it will not add much if anything to the repair time. The shop calls the insurance co and the part is ordered.

One thing you may want to inquire about is Factory parts VS aftermarket. Tell the body shop you want OEM parts, they are generally of better quality and fitment.

With bumper covers, the OEM parts are more flexible in my experience. Aftermarket ones crack rather than flex on small bumps.

Our insurance co. automatically pays for factory parts if the car is less than three years old, after that they use aftermarket stuff UNLESS THE CUSTOMER ASKS FOR FACTORY.
