Infotainment System Randomly Crashes and Reboots
Infotainment System Randomly Crashes and Reboots
So, I'm a long-time follower and first-time poster. I've generally been trouble-free until earlier this week. But, this problem is annoying the eff out of me!
Here's the deal. 2015 Fit EX with about 25,000 miles. Maybe 1-2 times in the course of an hour-long commute, the infotainment system will just randomly go dark for a second or two and then reboot (initial HondaLink screen, etc.) and come back on. This just started happening this week.
It happens completely without warning and reboots entirely on its own. I am almost always listening to Pandora or a podcast. So, I can't really say that it does or doesn't happen when I am just listening to FM radio.
Also, starting just today, I get a little bit of warning because the screen starts freezing up or, as an example, the 'skip track' button disappears on Pandora.
I guess I just need to suck it up and bring it to the dealer? Anybody else experiencing this? I guess the new normal is that a 'car crash' no longer refers to physical damage but rather to in-dash tablet failure!!!
On a sidenote, I'm getting slightly annoyed with these recalls and having to drop the car off for a half-day each time. Should I also add that I really like the look of the Civic Coupe coming soon??? One more recall and I might just make the move (after all the buzz has died down from next week's expected arrival on dealer lots)!!!

Yeah, just to chime in and repeat what others have partially said - its an issue with pandora's recent soft wear update. Multiple vehicle makers have been reporting issues with their vehicles entertainment systems crashing like this when using the app. I had my car in the dealership to look at a bunch of issues, and this was one of them. They said its something currently being reported to Pandora, so hopefully the next update from them will solve the issue.

I don't know if it makes a difference, but my head unit crashed a couple of times while connected to an iPod Classic 160GB. The iPod itself usually crashes and resets about 60 songs into a playlist -- but twice, maybe three times, it took the head unit down with it for a reset too but it always came back just fine.
I pushed a bunch of songs onto a USB drive and it's much better, not as sluggish as the iPod and never a burp or crash.

This happened to me a few times as well. It happened while I was listening to my iPod via one of the USB ports. When I was finally able to listen again, I noticed the iPod had also rebooted completely and had lost track of what playlist I was on and what song was playing. Instead it just started playing the first song by the first band alphabetically. Because of that, I assumed it was an issue related to the iPod...but now idk considering your accounts.
Mine would lock up while using an ipod. It would play around 20 songs off my nano before either freezing the ipod or locking up. More like 40 songs off the classic before having issues.
I'm mostly listening to XM over an FM modulator now.
