Wonder how many cars would get the same result, I bet the new gen VW bug would.

considering there is a japan made 2016 available to the US market now, yes, i would want that one, but unsure if i want to buy another mexican fit. the quality is just not there.

if i would've known earlier that the impreza hatch sport premiums were still made in japan, i would have bought that instead for sure.

With 50 votes tallied, the results are holding steady at 70% in favor of purchasing the Fit. Let's see if this trend continues.

The '16s from Japan have their faults as well . Click pictures to enlarge .

I'm 5 months and 3800 miles into my 16 LX MT. Its a limited time frame, but based on that I would say yes.

Love the manual transmission.

Love the fuel economy.

Love the bluetooth and USB port.

I haven't made use of the magic seats versatility (I have kids booster seats in the back), but I can see that will be very useful when needed.

Steering feel is weak (I'm biased, I owned several older BMW's which are hard to beat in the "feel" department), but car turns in well and is fun enough on curvy roads. I don't hold weak feel against the FIt, just an observation.

I covered the carpet with all-season mats from the dealer, so I don't notice a problem.

Cupholders are acceptable.

Love the steering wheel controls and the basic info screen of the LX (the EX screen was too "techy" for me).

Speaker system is disappointing. AM radio is particularly bad (I listen to some sports channels).

The plastic "styling bar" across the rear hatch that holds the hatch release lever is a disaster waiting to happen. Very flimsy compared to the rest of the car and just a poor design overall. My wife has had two Odysseys, and they both impressed with how every little detail was well designed. The oversight by Honda on this part of the Fit is stunning to me.

Halogen headlights are adequate. I long for HID's, but such is life in the economy car world I guess.

Love the large bin in the center console, dislike that the center console feels loosely mounted (its not much, but there is some play). Not a big deal.

Seats are comfortable enough, but I generally don't drive more than an hour at a time in the Fit so I can't speak to long trip comfort.

Visibility is very good.

Overall, I'm pleased with this car. It has had no problems. The only two issues that I really dislike are the poor speakers (but hey, I chose the LX instead of EX), and the rear hatch part I mentioned above. That has not been a problem yet, but it seems inevitable that it will be a problem.

I would buy again if doing this over.

Definite no on this question. 8th and last Honda. Other than a Solstice, the most troublesome car I have ever owned. (I have owned a lot of them) And zero concern from Honda about the issues. There is a reason Honda has fallen to near bottom in customer satisfaction. Even Kia rates higher.

Amazing how few corporate cooks it takes to spoil the broth. I was lucky, and apparently caught Mexico on a really great build day, but have to empathize with many peoples' issues. Given my good fortune, I am hoping to hold out for some significant Honda management/philosophy cures. I spent all day today on the internet, trying to find the dealership shop least likely to screw up my doors/windows under the door backup plate recall. The comments for my own purchase dealership are truly toxic, but again, I seem so far to have dodged the bullet, and will now follow a happier crowd of customers to a more approved shop. Sorry for you troubles, and here's wishing you some smooth sailing.

Good idea to check before getting the door handles fixed. Mine replaced the plates, and the first time I opened the door, the handle fell out! They fixed it, but that doesn't stop the other issues. Did you get the coils replaced? Mine needed the valves adjusted in addition.

Thought the door problem was the only outstanding item, but I'll double-check my file. Hopefully a reputable shop will prove reliable in dealing with each outstanding recall issue. At least happy not to have to worry about being fragged by an exploding airbag.

Depending on build date:

Bumper beam
A pillar covers
Coil pack
Valve adjustment
Door plate
Child anchor brackets
Brake rotors

And what is next?

Would I? or Will I?

I don't know which thread do post in, so I'll choose this one - it's related.
I have a 2009 White FIT I love and it's on the air bag recall list and (of course) no parts due until "Summer" - whenever that is. I am not moved to go get a loaner and all that. Not sure how "worried" one must be about the air bag problem

So, I thought: why not just buy a new 2016. I drove to my trusty Honda dealer today and drove the 2016 EX. nice! I said, well I'd better go home and sleep on it even though I was in another sense ready to sign on the dotted line. She said about 8K for my 2009 with 39,000 on it.

Then she started speaking to me about the Civic. She made it sound so sensible that I drove one. Nice. Bigger, heavier, stronger, and more "mature." Not like an old Civic ... more like the 94 Accord I had.

So that's my question: do I want the Fit which I adore or the Civic which I really "should" love more? It's only about $1000 between them. EX, both.

Also, how ridiculous is it that the EX does not come with GPS unless you buy the leather! Yes, you can download GPS, but only if you have an iPhone. I am an Android girl and I'm sticking with it. Is there a work around to that? And some here were saying that even the audible txts do not come through w Android? True?

Appreciate any and all answers. Thx.

That's my problem with the Civic. It's become a big, bloated mid-sized car. Too big on the outside, not enough room inside. If that's what you want, fine, but not for me.

Yesterday, I bought a new flat screen TV. The Fit swallowed it up without effort. No way I could have done that with a Civic.

This confirms my suspicions that the sagging bumper issue is not a build problem, but a symptom of poor design.

I have a 2016 Fit EX and 2016 Civic EX-T in my driveway (see the photo below). I appreciate both vehicles for their differences. The differences are glaringly obvious and you've touched on some of the them. Both vehicles have shortcomings. This forum is littered with problems experienced by Fit owners, but so is CivicX.com which is dedicated to the 10th Generation Civic. The most severe is a Piston Clip / Ring recall that led to a stop sell order on 2016 Civics with the 2.0L engine. Personally, the Civic I purchased showed an electrical issue with the wipers and failed to start the day after I purchased it. The local Honda service department could not start the vehicle, so they replaced the battery and starter. The vehicle started, but electrical issues remained. After three days in service, Honda deduced the issue to an unbolted ground wire at assembly. I found this to be a major quality control issue. By the way, there are many other issues plaguing 2016 Civic owners.

I noted your comment about how you should really love the Civic more than the Fit due to the Civic's advantages and its price at only $1,000 more than the Fit. I can relate. Originally, I sought to purchase a Fit, but test drove a Civic based on my wife's interest in the Civic. I thought a bigger, more powerful and more popular vehicle was the obvious choice. After purchasing the Civic, I couldn't shake my affinity for the neatness of the Fit. I marveled each time I saw a Fit. My wife couldn't understand why I was so into the Fit even after driving the Civic for months. Eventually, we traded in my wife's vehicle and purchased a Fit. Now, I drive the Fit and she drives the Civic. I couldn't be happier!

You've already eluded that price isn't an issue between the Fit and Civic. So, my advice is to make your decision based on the factors "you" value about a vehicle. What appeals to you about a vehicle? What do you value in a vehicle's interior/exterior? Will the vehicle be driven daily? Will the vehicle be driven in the city or highway? Will the vehicle serve any recreational use, if so, what type and how often? Will the vehicle transport you or a family? I could list more questions for consideration, but I'm confident you know what to consider. Keep us posted.

thanks iTrader. you put it very well. I will keep you posted. I'm still kind of shocked to realize that GPS is ONLY available if you go for "the leather" and "the leather" ONLY has leather and full GPS. This would not be an issue except that I am an Android Girl. Oh, the right hand back up camera is nice on the Civic and I think not at all available on the FIT ... but the whole camera I am drooling for as mine has none whatsoever. I do like the littleness of The Fit - and I think that is exactly what I am NOT supposed to like about the Civic. Now I am looking a little at the 2door Civic ... but I wonder how my dog will like climbing in the back? and if the seats go down for big items in the (2door small) trunk. Well, I guess another afternoon at The Honda dealer is on the horizon for me.

I honestly wouldn't worry about the GPS. I have an Android, and I prefer to just use Waze as my GPS. The built in GPS looks awful and is always behind on updates.

This is how I sort of how I have it setup. I actually put the phone up top and moved the Garmin below over the weekend:

I may just ditch the Garmin completely and replace my wife's old Garmin with this one.

wot's the Garmin do for you? and is that a leather steering wheel cover we see there? I notice the built in screen is rather glaring and not pointed towards the driver anyway and with a phone gizmo on the L.H. side you can control the glare better maybe, huh?
