Question Can A 2015 Fit With Push Button Start...

be stolen if its idling in Park but I hold the fob in my pocket say 30 yards away from the car shopping in a store?

Spent 30 minutes this morning reading the manual but it did not have the answer. Was going to try it but a friend told me not to do it in case the car was driven away, it may just shut down after a signal is lost.

Will call Honda USA or the Dealership on TUE to find out for sure.

Anyone know?

If the car is started and you drive away from the key fob, the car will continue to run. I'd it is then shut off, it won't restart unless the key is nearby again. So yes it can be stolen in that scenario.

This topic has been discussed before. If I recall correctly the fob is required to start the car, after which you can drive all you want without it, until you shut it off. Therefore if you start the car, leave it running and you are 30 yards away, anyone can steal your car.

You could try it for a test, but let your friend take the car.

Someone on here was at a dealership where the sales guy started the car, gave the fob to the customer, found out that the car was low on gas, drove to fill the car up, left the car running, filled up at the gas station, and then returned to the dealership for the test drive, all while the customer had the key fob.

I think you may mean me. However, the sales guy took off without the fob only to come to a sharp stop in 100 feet. I believed that was the car stopping because the fob wasn't with the driver, and either the sales guy intentionally misled me or didn't realize what I thought was the case. I was adamant on here about it until it dawned on me it didn't make sense based on what other posters said. Still haven't tested it myself though ;-)

You'd be wasting gas. Why would anyone do that?

Maybe to alert passers-by that the baby in the back wasn't being abandoned?
