2016 (or 2015) A-Pillar Cover Removal

I know there is an airbag near the top of the A-Pillar. That makes me a bit nervous, but I am sure there is a straightforward way to remove the cover to run wires from the map light area to the fuse box. Does anyone have directions or a link to same? Thanks!

There's only a couple inches of actual airbag, and some securing hardware covered by the pillar trim. If you want to just tuck wires around the pillar trim instead of removing, I doubt there would be issues but that's up to you.

(Instructions say to stuff a towel between the trim and pillar/dash so the little pins don't fall into the dash.)

Sit in the seat and grab the trim and pull (or pry) it straight out from the pillar toward you.
The topmost clip will extend about an inch then stop.
The lower pins (2?) release from the pillar by pulling or prying.

Once those are released, you should be able to slide the trim upward toward the roof about a half inch to get the topmost clip to slide out of its holder in the trim piece. (I find it helps to push the clip down while pulling the trim up)

Most of the time the top clip can be removed from the pillar (squeeze 2 small tabs), reassembled, reinstalled into the plastic trim, and reinstalled on the car without problems. Once in a while the clip breaks and won't stay latched together, needs replaced.

Thank you. I will certainly try the "tuck" method first!

I ran a wire from the fuse area up and to the mirror area and was able to tuck it in without removing any trim.
