Anyone looking at the new Civic?
Anyone else looking at the new Civic? I've been interested in the soon to be released hatch-back and decided to take the sedan in EX-L finish for a test drive. I was very impressed.
The interior finishes are definitely a grade up from my 2015 EX. Beside the obvious upholstery and carper pieces, most apparent to me were the strength of the air conditioning and sound system. For the first time in a while I was cold in a car (that never happens in the Fit during the summer), as the Civic handled the Atlanta heat without any apparent effort. The steering wheel was also very nice to the touch.
The 1.5 turbo engine seemed efficient but the lag was definitely noticeable trying hard accelerations. The driving experience was fine, with a more quite, refined ride. And that's maybe what I noticed the most when I drove home after the test. The Fit just felt more frisky and lively. Something about its rawness really appeals to me.
Since I easily transport my road bike in the Fit, cargo capacity is a major concern. The Civic Sedan's back seats both lay down very easily, providing access to a trunk that should readily accommodate my bike. So I'm sure the hatch-back will handle this task with ease.
At this point I plan to wait for the new release, predicted to be in the next month or two, and go for another test ride. But right now I'm inclined to keep driving my Fit and maybe make another upgrade to the sound system (I already swapped out the from speakers while keeping the factory head unit.).
If only I could get my hands on that Civic steering wheel!
Does anyone else have thoughts on this?

2016 Honda Civic curb weight: 2,818lb / 1,278kg
2016 Honda Fit curb weight: 2,513lb / 1,140kg
2016 Honda Civic length: 15.19' / 4631mm
2016 Honda Fit curb weight: 13.133' / 4064mm
300 lb difference, 1.5L engine probably means you'll be using the turbo more often. This might decrease your fuel efficiency.
Maybe the Civic hatch will drive differently from the sedan. I find the sedan somewhat deadening compared to the Fit, more comfy but deadening.

My wife has a new Civic with the 2.0. It's not bad I like it. We've taken it to Pensacola and around Nashville traffic. I also get cold in it, and I usually never get cold in any vehicle. I liked the Fit better for comfort. (6ft 215lbs)
The only issue we've had was the sunroof motor gears broke 2nd time she used it. I guess it's a known issue for new Hondas? Any Fit owners had this issue?

My wife got a 16 civic touring and the days later a got a 16 Fit EX- L. The civic is a higher end vehicle than the fit so yeah it's got better features etc. that being said I prefer my Fit and the AC works fine in the central Alabama heat.
i did briefly looked at the new civic sedans and coupes for my dd. they are MUCH nicer than the previous gens. that last gen was horrible, btw.
i went a different direction though at the end.
