I'm Back!
I'm Back!
Well this past weekend I bought a 2016 EX Honda Fit.
I originally owned a 2010, then for the past 3 years...cough..something different.
But I'm back now.
Of course I've only owned it for 3 days. So should be no surprise that I'm happy with it.
Many of the attributes I missed since my ownership of the 2010 Honda Fit Sport are back. I thought then, and I think now, the Fit is a remarkably well designed vehicle. Love the drive feel and the amazing and clever utility.
i will say this.
I think I actually liked the 2010's dashboard and interior better.
It had more plastic, and many would argue was less "refined". But I liked the dual glove box, the nearly endless cupholders and cubby spots, and the very unique oversized dials and contours of the 2010 dash.
The 2016 interior and dash are fine, but much more standard and uniform looking. Sitting behind the wheel of the 2010 Fit, I knew I was in a Fit, and something "different". Sitting behind the wheel of the 2016? The Dash is very much like anything else on the market...less unique.
But don't get me wrong. I love being back.
So far my greatest criticism would be the joke Honda calls the center console.
I paid extra to have a console installed on the 2010 Sport. BUT it was a descent console, with some real storage space, and enough height to be comfortable driving.
This "thing" Honda calls a center console, is much smaller, and as many have pointed out...really too low.
For as well designed as The Fit is as a vehicle? Honda got that aspect wrong.
Plus given the smaller nature of the center console, it makes me miss the dual glove box as well.
I do however LOVE the moonroof, and the technology available.
I'm hoping Honda figures it out and offers some type of aftermarket center console upgrade.
I'd be willing to pay to get something akin to the center console I had in the 2010.
I know as a "I've returned" post, this sounds negative. I don't mean it to. I really, really like being back, and I LOVE this new Fit. While the Dash seems more "normal" and less unique, it is beautiful.
And I've missed The Fit driving feel and the "Magic Seats" and flat load floor.
I'm really happy to be back. But in comparing the 2010 to 2016? There are some things I liked about the 2010 better.
PS.
My profile picture is of my old 2010...I'll probably update that as soon as I can get to taking a picture of the "new" Fit.

Welcome back! I'm new to the Fit family myself. Your description of the 2010 really makes me want to see the difference first hand (in driving and cosmetics).
So far, after one tank of gas, I really like the 2016 EX.
Getting a "taller" armrest that keeps the functionality of the "lower box" is on my agenda, right after tinting and possibly a rear sway bar.
I see a lot of potential in this car.

Welcome back to the Fit family. Do some searches as there are a few homebrewed solutions for a taller armrest. My sig pic has the console I added. It has storage and raised the armrest for me.
What was the sandwich car if you don't mind sharing?

Fitchet, welcome back.....we picked up a used '15 this spring, so am a Fit newb, but love it so far, no problems (perhaps the original owner got the initial "teething problems" of a new generation from a new plant outta the way, dunno, time will tell)
SS, yeah, am with you and everyone else on the "armrest" being too low...and I'm short. I got mine tinted, installed a Progress rear anti-sway bar and a Tanabe Medalion Touring axleback, and I'm good for now, the "armrest" is definitely on the back burner, if at all, beings as most of our driving is around town and out to the mountains (manual trans), having a "functional" one is not on my radar atm...but it would be nice
Check out the Progress bar, I feel it was worth it, and an incredibly easy install

I still have my 2010 Fit Sport and a new 2016 LX. I also had the accessory armrest in my 2010 and I miss that especially on a long trip it gave my right arm a place to rest. Not sure what Honda was thinking with the one in the 2016 Fit. No way it can be used as an arm rest unless you have really long arms. In most other areas I prefer the 2016 over the 2010 including the exterior styling, the auto headlights, outside temp gauge, seat height adjustment and much improved gas mileage. My 2016 easily gets 6-8 mpg better mileage than my 2010 Sport.
