Rat Chewed Windshield Wiper Hose
Rat Chewed Windshield Wiper Hose
What's up good people?!
I just noticed that a rat chewed up the hose that runs (presumably) from the water res to the spouts (not sure what the real name is). If you have the the hood up and are facing the windshield, it runs along the left side of the engine bay. It is very hard to miss. Anyway, since it is "nature" it is not covered under warranty so I am looking for the part myself and possible a tutorial on how to replace it. Does anyone have any resources that they can turn me on to?
Thanks a million,
Rob

Got pics of the damage? How far did they chew? Is there more hidden damage?
Yeah, rodents like to chew those hoses, among other things. Be glad the hose is a cheap repair, it could have been wires or worse.
Take apart whatever you need to get to the damaged hoses.
Cut off a piece of the damaged hose for a sample, carry it into any auto parts store, match it up with the large spools of bulk hose (or have a clerk do it) and buy whatever length you need to fix your car.
I'll guess it's gonna be 3/32 inch (I.D.) hose for washers.
Measure first, add it up, maybe add a little extra length just in case so you don't have to make two trips. Fix it in the parking lot, in case you need more parts the store is right there.
If necessary you can get hose fittings (usually plastic vacuum line connectors) so you can trim exposed good original hose and attach new hose to it, without having to follow it all the way to the bottom of the washer tank or wherever. Depends on the damage. Assess your damage and if you need it ask at the parts store.
I'd expect any store to have a box with a variety of fittings like these in various shapes and sizes
