I have a 2015 LX and there is this subtle but ANNOYING popping noise that comes from the hatch that is most noticeable when at a stop. I am unsure if it is coming from the hatch or the spoiler, but definitely the rear of the car and happens whether or not the car is running. It sounds like a small plastic pop, almost the noise an acorn would make upon hitting the car but it is not an acorn. Sometimes the pops are slightly louder or more frequent than other times, but I can't pinpoint what factors influence if it is better or worse. Anyone else experience something similar and can tell me what the deal is?

 

How frequent is this noise? Is it a continuous pop pop pop? Can you hear it from outside the car or only from the inside?

 

License plate frame? At least one other poster had an issue with theirs.

 

It's intermittent. Not continuous over and over again but also it isn't a one time thing. Maybe I'll hear it 3 or 4 times per minute...sometimes more sometimes less. I will have to check the license plate frame thing although I am unsure what would cause it to make that noise.

 

The license plate is certainly something to check, but I think that would be more of a rattle sound as opposed to a pop.

 

Just a quick question, to clarify ....by "running," do you mean whether or not the car is moving (w/engine running), or do you mean it does it with engine off - not running (am doubting this would be the case, but, again, just to clarify)

 

Be best if you could post an audio of it, but until then, check the plastic hatch cover on the inside of the hatch. When I owned my Fit, that cover often times came loose and I had to whack it back in place. Maybe one or more of the pop fasteners is loose.

 

I had this same exact problem. It turned out that the shiney black plastic trim under the rear window was a little loose on one side. It seemed to make the sound mostly when it was in direct sunlight. I just sorta pressed on it and now it doesnt do it as much. Havent checked the screws holding it on yet. Tightening them might be a better fix.

 

It happens when the car is completely off and not moving. I think it could be from the black part underneath the rear window! Pressing on it a bit does seem to alter the noise. Perhaps this is an issue unique to the LX because of the difference in trim black(LX) vs chrome(EX) underneath the rear window. The noise is so subtle I am not sure it would even pick up on a normal audio recording with a cell phone or something.
