New Fit owner. Looking for advise.
Hi all. I've been lurking in the forum for quite awhile now and finally pulled the trigger on a new white 2016 EX (Canada) last weekend. It's going to suck to give up the AWD of the 2003 Forester it replaces but money talks. Since it's going to snow here every day for the foreseeable future I ordered some weather-tech mats. Now I'm looking at snow tires and steel wheels. The Honda dealer wheels part 42700-t5ra0 are 15x6. Parts dept can't find bore, backspacing or offset. CT has two sets of steel wheels one bore 56.1mm offset 45 and one bore 56.6 offset 42. both 15x6. Does the bore matter? I was looking for confirmation before I by as I haven't picked up the car yet. I was thinking the 45 offset wheels with the Michelin X-Ice Xi3XL Tire in 175/65-15. After that tint, clear bra and Krown. Thoughts.

Welcome from a fellow Canadian. There are a few of us on this forum.
I bought 14" 175/65r14s Michelin X-ice3s winter tires with steel rims. There may also be a $70 rebate. This is the second winter and they are excellent. The -1 rim really aids in traction. Your 16" rims really look like +1, so the 14" tires are a -1 and recommended by many for winter tires. The tires are also cheaper. Though I was sceptical I am glad I went with -1 sizing.
I had thought that the 5.5" clearance of the Fit would be troublesome in the snow, but with winter tires I have had no difficulties. With out winter gas and driving on snow your gas mileage does suffer. For me February is the worst time of the year for gas mileage.
You can also look for Mini rims as they have the same bolt pattern, as does older Honda 4 bolt rims

Thanks guys. TorontoBoy, I should have mentioned I'm in Ottawa. We get considerably more snow than the GTA. CT has a sale on the 15" right now. The 15" with 175 tires is only.02% off he size of the summer wheels and tires. I'm hoping the clearance won't be an issue. I park on the street at work in the winter. The AWD on the Subaru has been very useful getting in and out of the snowbanks they call streets. That being said there are other people without the AWD who park there as well.

Thanks. I love you guys who are willing to tear into a new car and document it for the rest of us. Great job. Keep it up.

Just a gentle reminder that your local Honda dealer might, just might have a winter tire package, and as winter is, hopefully half over, should rightly be discounted.
Also because you are using snow tires you should also receive $50/yr off your auto insurance (Ontario law). It is not much, but if the tires last 4 years it does add up.

I'm in Toronto, a native of Montreal. Yup, Ottawa is much like Montreal, not Toronto.
I'm running 175 65 14 winters. Traction is good on the fit. Clearance hasn't been an issue. Many people (crazily) run all seasons, as they find that with the Fit the winter traction is still excellent. As a native of Montreal I wouldn't think of it. You shouldn't have any problem with your choices. And Winters last a good while, so don't sweat the initial cost.

Good to know. I'm hoping I don't loose to much over the Subaru. The snows mounted on steel wheels are in the back of the Subaru waiting to be put on the Fit tomorrow when I pick up the car.
