AC Issue on used 2015?

Hello! This is my first post. I'm excited to be the owner of a used 2015 Fit EX but noticed a troubling thing when I got the car home. The ac compressor is cycling on and off ever 5-10 seconds while idyling.

Is this normal operation? If not, do you think it would be covered under warranty?

Luckily the the car has a few miles left on the 36k warranty, but I read that refrigerant warranty tops at 24k. I'm hesitant to bring it to the Honda dealer if it just needs to be recharged since it wouldn't be covered under warranty and they'd probably charge me double the market rate.

Thanks for the help!

If you have a few miles left of warranty, I would just go in. Go to a honda dealership around you with good tech (not sales) reviews. Explain to the tech what is wrong, let them give you his/her thoughts. Then explain your warranty and ask if just checking it out will cost you anything. They can go double check, and hopefully give you an honest assessment of how things will go down.

I just bought a 2016 EX in the past month, and the dealership close to me has been taking care of all the little issues that I noticed after I bought it (not the same place that I bought it from).

I don't think you are hearing the ac compressor. I bet its the engine cooling fan you are hearing.

It is normal to hear it click on roughly every 15 seconds and stay on for 5 seconds or so then turn back off when idling sitting still for extended periods.

My 2015 does it and so did my 2008.

You need to get a set of manifold gauges connected to the system. It could be cycling off if the low side pressure is getting to low. Or if you have a blockage in the system the high side pressure sensor could be kicking in. You need to get a proper diagnostic.
