A while ago my 2015 Fit LX developed something of a thumping sound in the front passenger side wheel well. So we took the car to the dealer and were told that the thumping was coming from the tire having uneven wear due to the need for an alignment (which, they said, should be done yearly). So we got the alignment and the thumping tire was still at it. Just purchased new tires and the thumping is still there. The noise in no way impedes the functioning of the car. It's just an additional noise that can be disturbing. I wondering if it's the ghost of tires past. Well, the car is still under warranty, so back to the dealer we go with the thump. Anyone experienced anything similar to what I'm describing, or is my situation unique?

 

Wheel well liner has come loose?

 

Could be a bad front strut.

 

Bad rotor? MIne shudder a bit when braking.. Maybe one thats out of balance?

Also I've had hondas develop a thump if cheap rotors or non hub-centric wheels were installed. and don't even suggest those stupid hub centric rings.. The tire shops just cant get them on right or forget to look and lose them when rotating the tires..

 

Could be just about anything loose. Check the splash shield, they're pretty well known to come loose. Wheel well liner, lip undefined the bumper, fog light housing, grille, headlight,.....

 

i think so too, or loose strut, maybe even loose endlink but endlinks tend to have a more of a knocking sound at lower speeds.

 

It could also be a loose wheel cover. If so, that's a very easy fix.

 

The dealer ordered a replacement strut today. Still under warranty. A little surprised to have this kind of issue relatively early in the game.

 

I've seen a couple threads mentioning a bad strut causing thumping sounds, that's why I mentioned it. Glad you're getting it fixed under warranty.
