Weathertech floor mats: poor fit for the FIT

I purchased a set of front floorliners for my new 2017 Fit and am very disappointed with the fit. The driver's side is nice and snug but the passenger side has a large hollow underneath that causes the side of the liner by the door to buckle inward when your foot presses down on it.

After using a cattle prod on the dealer where I bought them, I was given a replacement set but the issue was exactly the same. These mats are certainly not the Laser Measured fit that is advertised. A friend of mine has the exact same issue with his new Fit and I'm beginning to think maybe Honda made a change to the foot pan with the G3 and Weathertech has not redone their template.

At any rate, I didn't pay $180.00 for the "high quality" plastic these things are made of.

Has anyone else had an issue with the fit of these mats? I'd be interested in hearing your experiences.

I had an issue with the Husky front mats. I sent them emails w/ pictures. After some back and forth they sent me a new pair and haven't had a problem since. Lots of other members have the weathertechs and this is the first I've heard of a problem.

Can you post pictures?

I have a complete set (front, middle and back) in my 2016 Fit. They have been okay over the past winter. The one on the right moves around a tiny bit but there aren't any fasteners like the driver's side (plenty of comments about that on various web sites).

I've had several sets of Weathertech floor mats go bad very quickly in my previous Corollas.

The Weathertech company is good on customer service and you might contact them for a refund.

If they are improperly designed, a refund is certainly appropriate.

If there's a void in an area underneath the mat why not just look for something that you can place there to fill in that void?

Weathertech is a top notch company. I've purchased several products from them and I've been fortunate to not have any issues whatsoever. If you're unhappy with the quality then I would suggest calling their customer service. They should definitely stand by their product and work with you to make it right.

I have the Weathertech mats in my Fit. The front mats fit fine, but the rears curl inward at the sides below the door, allowing dirt to get between the mat and the door sill.

I got these for our 2017. Perfect fit. I liked the look better, more like material than shiny rubber. I don't have to worry about snow down here, just dirt, and these work great.

You could try reshaping them maybe. When I was doing my due diligence on WeatherTech before I got my set I came across some info on different websites -- I think one thread is here in the GD or GE forum -- about warming the plastic material with a blow dryer (not a heat gun!) to soften it up and using clamps and 2x4s to reshape.

This is ONLY my personal experience.
I know people love Weathertech. And I think they are a good company.

But my last vehicle I bought a set of digital fit weather tech liners. And I was disappointed.
The "Plastic"? Vinyl? Plasti-Vinyl? Material they make their liners out of, seems to scuff, IMO very easily. And while it does a great job protecting?
Well, I bought the Light Gray liners, and part of the problem was trying to keep them looking clean. They showed every scuff, every drop of water, mud, dirt, almost immediately.
I think rubber based mats, absorb more, and actually look cleaner, longer.

I also bought a Weathertech cargo mat. It was great. But I don't think I'd repeat my purchase of the mats. Clean, they looked great. But keeping them looking clean was impossible.

the ONLY reason why i use the weathertechs/husky is because we have pretty nasty snow/salt winters. as soon as it stops snowing i immediately go back to carpet mats.

berber mats are my favorite. i never really liked rubber mats, it reminds me of rubber boots.

Ummmm .... I don't believe rubber absorbs anything, unless shitty rubber and a long time frame, just sayin'.... We have the Weather tech mats in our Fit, and am perfectly fine with them....factory mats are overpriced (as are the WT's, one could say) ... Beings as the factory "carpeting" (felt-ing?) is so sad, I have no problems with the WT mats, have never noticed any fitment issues

Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated. I'll see about posting some pics. Been busy, busy, busy!

Regarding the suggestion to heat to reshape, the retail dealer spent 45 mins trying that with little success.

those are okay for warmer months but not enough coverage for snow belt states where we use salt. the salt just stains da carpeting all around the factory rubber and carpet mats.. dis is why we buy the husky liners as it protects the carpeting around the mats too.

To each his/her own.
I was disappointed.
Especially given price.
I just don't really like the material.
What is it? Vinyl? Plastic?....
While it repels dirt, moisture as advertised...I just found good old rubber based mats seemed to at least hide some of the moisture dirt, longer.
I got the light gray colored liners, and maybe that was a mistake? They looked absolutely GREAT when clean....which never seemed to last past a single rain storm or any moment I had any dirt on my shoes.
Rubber mats...well maybe "absorbing" isn't the right word. But they definitely just seem to be able to take a little more direct abuse and hide the affects.
