A Lousy Morning

I towed my old (1969) SkiDoo trailer to Lowe's to get some lumber. When I arrived, I saw that one of the trailer tires was totally flat. My electric tire pump didn't help because the tire had lost its seal with the wheel. Fortunately, I was able to fit the four 8' 2 x 4s, two 4 x 4s, and four concrete blocks into the Fit. I guess I didn't need the trailer, after all. You can get a lot of stuff into that little car. I removed the passenger's seat headrest, and that let the lumber lie flat.

I loaded my car with what I hope is everything I'll need to remove and repair the tire. I won't be able to go back till after 1:00, though. The tires and wheels are only a few years old, so it must have picked up a nail or something on the way in. In all my years of towing, I've never had a trailer tire go flat.

The unexpected always sucks.

The Fit definitely can carry some interesting things. I've carried a snow blower and 3500psi gas powered pressure washer, separately. I've carried some light lumber for projects as well.

Two wing back chairs on one trip and a 9 drawer dresser on another. The kitchen sink when we go on road trips, too.

It must have been tricky getting them inside - and out again.

We've had different sized cars over the years, and every one was filled when we went on vacation. It didn't matter if it was a Ford Expedition or a Ford Escort. We filled them up. : )

It wasn't too bad, just have to pivot and turn it just right.

Turning the thread into how I love my Fit. The economical Fit allows me to go places without having to consider how expensive the trip may cost. It is so wonderful to have that feeling. When I am bored, I drive it around town, to places I have not been. I have been averaging over 44 mpg. When I gas up, I reset the trip A ODO and display the average mpg at the same time. When the ODO reads 10x the average mpg, it's time to gas up again. I can top the tank to 11.2 gallons when it is almost completely empty (a few miles after no bars showing), more than the spec 10.6 gallons because the neck is long from the filler to the tank that is located under the driver's seat.

My 5x8 has the spare tire mount and I threw down on a full size spare. Got a folding 4 way tire iron in the tongue toolbox for emergencies. The scissor jack stinks in general but it does get the job done, fit or trailer.

I might get a spare for that trailer, but it's 48 years old, and this is it's first flat.

Interesting. Yeah you never know when a flat can happen. I also keep a small 12 volt electric air pump thats smart. Set it to the PSI needed and it will shut off once it reaches that, and got the dual 12volt socket adapter that connects to the 7 pin round trailer connector for extra slack to the trailer wheels

Yes, I carry a tire pump, tire patch kit, and first aid kit. For some reason, my Fit's trailer wires aren't putting out any current. Another problem to solve.
