Hi,

First time fit owner here after driving my old saturn until the wheels came off. I was gifted a nice set of whispbar racks and want to get them on my shiny new 2017 FIT. Went to REI, they said the clip mount is discontinued. Went to a specialist, he has the whispbar fixed permanent attachment kit. This raises questions:

Does mounting the plated in the roof impact the warranty?
Is it wise?
Has anyone done it?
Does the FIT actually have attachment areas, I was under the impression it doesn't.

If you'd suggest against this route, curious what racks and mounting style you reccommend.

u should get one specifically for the new fits. the sheet metal on them are so thin.

 

Can anyone confirm or refute that there are reinforced attachment points in the roof?

I live in Houston, when the car is taken from a colder inside garage to the outside warm humid environment, I can located the spars that reinforce the roof from the condensations on the roof. There are about 4 cross spars and one that runs longitudinally.
