I don't keep cars long enough to purchase an extended warranty. I say that with one exception, my 89 CRX I owned for 235k.

 

Well, I generally don't recommend extended warranty purchase on a new vehicle. BUT...
I don't feel anyone should purchase them with "value" as the priority. You only maybe will get value for in terms of return of investment vs. repair cost.

If you choose to purchase one? I would think of it as investing into peace of mind. If knowing that you are covered in many incidents beyond warranty is worth it to you? Then it's worth it to you.
Otherwise? It's usually not.

With any warranty purchase, it's important to know exactly what is covered and what is not...and exactly how much you are paying.
