Anyone kind of wish...
...The Fit had a larger capacity fuel tank?
I know in design and production, even the smallest change means a lot of redesigning and domino affect impact. So the gap between asking for something and getting it? Can be huge.
But my 2016 EX...according to the owners manual has a fuel tank capacity of 10.6 gallons.
While the gas mileage is subcompact good, and that allows for descent driving range, I sometimes wish The Fit had a larger tank.
Especially with what is IMO a very conservative gauge, I find myself filling up, if I follow the warning light, pretty frequently, even if I do enjoy the smaller fill ups from a cost to shut off the pump perspective.
I just wish maybe I didn't have refuel so often and maybe could drive a little further on a full tank.
With the fuel economy being good, just a few more gallons capacity would really increase the driving range.
Can't help but think that would be nice.

I agree completely, but I wonder if the EPA fuel mileage ratings require a full tank for testing?
Those 3 extra gallons would be 24 additional pounds. They fight pretty hard for even a one pound savings.
This doesn't take into account the additional weight of the larger tank that would always be there.

I do and I don't. Like GAFIT mentioned, that would mean carrying the extra weight and what how would that affect your MPG. As it is, I can get about 320 miles before the low gas warning light comes on, and that comes on around 8 gallons consumed. 320 miles is plenty IMO and 400 if I push it. It's not like I'm trying to make it to Dakar from Paris.

The position of the tank under the front seats limits capacity. With a bigger tank, wouldn't be able to have it under the front seats, so you'd lose the Magic Seat capability.
But I understand wanting a bigger tank. Two cars ago, I had a '96 Honda Civic HX, the high efficiency model, with a 5 sp manual. 12 gallon tank plus 40-50mpg. I could get 500 mi. out of a tank on long trips as long as I didn't exceed 62mph / 2500rpm , to keep the second set of valves from opening, saving mpg. That was an awesome highway vehicle as long as I didn't have to take much stuff along.

If you're filling up not too long after the low fuel light comes on, that would explain it. On the GK, the low fuel light comes on around 8 gallons. It's a common complaint. Even at 0 ticks of the fuel guage I still only filled up 9 some gallons when I was seeing how low I could comfortably go. I went 422 miles and 9.434 gallons btw.
