Installing aftermarket subs

Ok so just got this car a week ago. I went to install subs and amp, when I got everything hooked up, it sounded like the subs weren’t getting enough power. I running two Alpine 12’s with an alpine 1200watt amp. I’m a novice at this and only know a lil bit to get me by and learning as I go. I’m also using the stock head unit and tapped in with a line output converter. Using a 4g amp install kit from CT SOUNDS. My concern is that my tiny battery can’t handle it. Can anyone help with some advice on what I should do.

when the bass hit the lights dimmed, and the subs didn’t hit hard at all.

I'm not a stereo expert, but I think people get bigger alternators for issues like that. Or, if there aren't bigger alternators available for the car, capacitors to smooth the power.

there are a couple of things that may be happening here. "hit hard" is a relative term btw.

1. the voltage output from your line converter may be too low sending a weak signal to your amp hence lower quality sound. nothing beats a 4v pre-out.

2. if you have a sealed box, it won't hit hard.

3. check your gains. you should look up sub tuning if you haven't done that yet.

4. check the overall resistance of your subs. how did u wire them together? are they in series or in parallel? if the resistance is higher, the power is lower. if the resistance is lower, the higher the power.
