Rhino Rack - Vortex 2500 silver 2 bar roof rack

Any experience with this rack? I'm thinking of getting it to carry my 25 pound kayak. I did a search but nothing came up.

I can't remember the exact Rhino ones I got at the moment but they a very similar and they lock. Mine had the rectangle bars because if I remember correctly they hold more weight. Been using them for over a year and loading two 40 lb kayaks on them. Recently I bought Malone Telos lift system and their DownLoader that are the folding Kayak Carriers. Plus their kit to add front attachment straps that are flexible and lock under the hood. I tried it all a few days ago and was very happy with their lift and kayak carriers. The carriers are meant to come on and off quickly but I just took off their turn knobs and added lock nuts to make it more difficult to take off. Then I added some handgun locks with the short cables to put on each one. Now I can just leave the carriers on all the time.

Regarding the installation of the Rhino Rack, their instructions are horrible on positioning the racks. Get a ballpark area via the instructions and then lock them down where you see that the grooves match up precisely with no gaps. When you install them you'll see what I mean.

Hope that helps.

Robot, can you post a pic of your kayak system if it's convenient? I'm going with a Yakima system.

Yeah, but give me some time. Plus, I never posted a pic before. Hope it's easy.

When I try to upload the pics that are in .JPG, I get this notice:

The uploaded image extension is not supported. Please try to upload a jpg, gif or png images.

So I don't know what it wants.

One side shows the J carrier up and the other side folded down.

Hey Max, here is the installation instruction for the Vortex roof rack system you are planning to install.
Also, on the product page with this roof rack we've got several reviews our customers left. You may be interested in reviewing them.
Hope this helps!

Loaded up the kayaks today. Carriers work very well. So does the lift system.

I picked up a used set of Rhino 2500 Series racks. (I looked these up. They fit the FIT.) It is missing one of the Foot Plates - part number M311 on my instruction sheet.
Also, this particular set was used on a Chevy Cruze. I may need a new Pad and Clamp Kit.
Do you or anyone know a source for these parts?
Thanks again.

Edit: I only need a source for the Foot Plate. Amazon carries the Pad and Clamp Kits for $90.

Max, unfortunately we don't carry those foot plates separately. I wish I could send one to you.

Hi. Do you happen to know what number Fitting Kit I would need to mount these racks on a 2016 Fit?
I'm wondering what part numbers are on the pads and clamps. The existing ones on the rack seem a close fit, but this rack was used on a Chevy Cruze.
