Hey guys, tried searching but haven't found anything really concrete as far as this is concerned. Strangr issue I'm having upon startup. I just got a 2015 EX 6 speed. When I press the push button start i hear a loud buzzing sound which seems to emanate from behind the push button start (that general vicinity) is this normal? Any ideas as to what this could be? Thanks in advance for any info or leads as to what I should search for. Pardon my ignorance but I'm new to this car and new to trying to work on cars period. Thanks.

 

Would you be able to take a video or audio recording?

Is this when you've got the foot on the brake and push the start button? Or foot off the brake? Could be a fuel pump priming?

 

does it only happen during cold starts? if so it's probably the VTC.. aka considered 'normal' by honda. lol my GK does it too and i bought mine new about 3yrs ago and started doing it maybe 2+yrs ago. previous gen Fits did not make this noise, atleast not the ones i had.

 

Right before the starter engages the steering lock disables itself which make a buzzing noise like an electronic motor running. Could that be it?

razorburn got it with the video but now im going to look for a video or something pertaining to the VTC. Im mot familiar with that as Im new to cars period but I will read up on it thanks kenchan

 

mine is slightly louder but that is exactly what it is thanks a lot...that buzz had me concerned. feeling better now, thanks Razor

 

yah, it’s different from the VTC noise

 

I get that noise every time I shut down the engine. Seems to be standard operating procedure. I'd say nothing to worry about.

 

I think I have the same sound happening when starting. Sounds like it is coming from behind the dash in and around the area of the push button. Does this happen to every Honda with push button?
