Aftermarket TPMS good idea or not?

It seems there are a tons load of aftermarket TPMS that I can get for my 2015 Fit to give me real pressure readings for EACH tire. Some models even provide temperature for each tire! Can't tell you how many times I get annoyed to see the TPMS light come on and does not tell me which tire is low on pressure other than check each one with a pressure gauge...insert lazy comments here..lol.

My gf laughs at the fact her 2013 Chevy Cruze have a real TPMS that tell her the pressure of each tire while my Fit does not.

The idea started when an ad popped on my facebook feed (amazing!) about an aftermarket TPMS that I can purchase in two flavors: external or internal. I am looking at the internal versions as it's more secure inside the wheel and plus it'll be balanced properly at the tire shop. There are tons of receivers in different styles and some even sports bluetooth to provide info via app on smartphone which I won't get into here. You can look for it on Amazon.

I have to get new tires soon at Costco so figured be a good time to get them installed if I decide to purchase a set.

Question is it worth it on the Fit? To me I would think so. Thoughts?

My experience with my '16 LX and TPMS is that the system alerts me when one tire has 22 lb. or less pressure. It has been amazingly consistent across different tires reaching this pressure; I had a slow leak in one and a sidewall tear in another.

So I guess the question is, how much do you want to spend for the convenience of knowing your tire pressure in real time?

I keep a digital tire gauge in my glove box. If the TPMS light comes on, I measure. The tire that gets down to 22 lb. is typically fairly easy to spot out of the four. If that's not the low one, I check the others. It really doesn't take long to do, and it's a lot cheaper than installing aftermarket TPMS. But that's just me.

I think you should get the aftermarket TPMS system.
And I think you should get the one that not only tells you the Tire Pressure but also Tire Temperature.
Why?
Because your Girl Friend with a 2013 Chevy Cruze is laughing at you.

Nah...just kidding.
It's up to you? How much is the cost?

I would for sure recommend investing into a good tire gauge. I have.
What you are talking about is clearly optional, but people buy a lot of optional things for their vehicle.

I have a pressure gauge and check my own tires. It also works with my motorcycle.

Then again, I’m an old guy, so what do I know?
