2018 Fit without alarm; Is the immobilizer already enough ?
I have a 2018 Fit EX that doesn't have any alarm but as we know it already has a immobilizer system . So What do you think ? Is it enough ? Should I pay extra $$ to install a 3rd party alarm system ?
Thanks....
Thanks....

What good is an alarm? I hear alarms going off all the time. False alarms are so common everybody ignores them. Where I am an immobilizer is a mandatory insurance requirement. There is no requirement for car alarms.

well if someone breaks a window and opens the locked door the horn will start that incessant beeping. And yeah, the immobilizer. But I also have wheel locks, though I've read they're easier to get off these days.

Just read a few articles on the Fit not being stolen as a whole, but rather its wheels due to the common bolt pattern for the older Hondas, etc.
To each his own, but as a first time Fit owner AND a first time, new-car owner, I worry.
im planning to install a 3rd party alarm this week. I think the tilt and shock sensor would be great deterrent even though im well aware that if they want it that badly then it'll be taken.

I think an alarm can be of benefit.
If you park your vehicle on the street or close enough to where YOU can hear the alarm, the alarm can alert you, and that's worth it.
I once had an alarm on a truck of mine, that was parked on the street. I heard the alarm go off and looked out and someone had clipped my bumper and appeared to be trying to disengage and just drive off. When I ran out they stopped and it became an insurance claim incident. But I always had my doubts. If I hadn't had an alarm? I'm pretty sure the person would of just driven away, and I would of never known.
So yes, even though the general public is conditioned to pretty much ignore alarms, I still think they can be of value for the owner themselves.
Plus it comes down to just adding dis-incentive to make your vehicle less break in or robbery desirable.
And final point, aftermarket alarms have become pretty cheap. It's not a huge investment.
