Significance of Orange in Sport Trims

Anyone know the significance of the interior orange stitching in the '18 Sport trims?

I thought maybe they'd go for red since the exterior design is akin to the Type R. In my tuner heyday, we only coveted Championship White, Aegean Blue, Rallye Red and the obscure Phoenix Yellow.

funny....Subaru is doing the same orange trim with their upcoming Forester sport model. Must be a glut of orange dye lying around somewhere

I must be color blind, but is the exterior stripe red or orange???

Because I thought it was red based on this picture of the Orange Fury. Its clearly not orange. Some online reviews say its red, others orange.

Thats what i thought. But kinda confirms my confusion with the the orange stitching. I don't dislike it, just thought red stitching would have been more harmonious.

Anyway, the reasons why i even asked was because i had planned on getting a set of Wet Okoles (fantastic neoprene seat covers btw) in black and orange to match the interior and started wondering why even orange.

The question really is why red on the stripe? if you go any other color interior wise, then the shift knob won't match anymore since its also orange.

I get the red. They both have the stripe. I thought it would be like any other manufacturer - trickle down all the cool bits from their racing pedigree into their less pricey models. I'm gonna have to agree that they just had excess orange dye somewhere for cost cutting.

Also i went with the stainless steel ball, but everything inside is stitched orange.

This is actually very likely. It was probably the cheapest colored thread they could source anywhere.

Thanks!

Guess which one I actually enjoy driving more on a daily basis.

The other one is trying to kill me.
