Hello gents, can anyone here please tell me the size of the stock rod bearings, the pin and the center to center for the L15b?
Thanks so much. (I don't wish to take any engines apart yet )
It is my understanding they are the same as for the L15A. I have no way to verify this but several vendors are selling aftermarket L15A connecting rods. I did find several options for the L15B, below is an example. Please tell us what you're planning, I want to build a L15B1 all motor (normally aspirated), track focused engine myself. Cheers, d'Art!
Pauter X-Beam Rods have been the rod of choice for engine builders of high horsepower race applications for years. Their unique beam formation makes them extremely strong both in tension and compression, as well as optimal with oil windage. Specifications: E4340 vacuum melt chrome moly forging – CNC machined, heat-treated to Rockwell C36; full coverage shotpeened; end-to-end balanced in sets. Each rod comes standard with ARP 2000 bolts rated at 220,000 psi tensile strength, and aluminum-bronze wrist pin bushings. Features: 16.99mm Pin, 149mm Length, 437g.
Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that those are the rods to go with. I'm thinking eventually an NA build that would not need anything more than the Brian Crowers. Once you invoke the turbonium, then it's time to really consider rod strength, and even then the BCs are probably enough...
Hi guys!
Due to the dearth of quality cheap 2nd hand choices for track cars in China, the Fit has become the predominant track weapon. On all but the longest tracks the GK5 is punching well above it's "weight class".
The class that is most popular is All-Motor 1600cc class and the Fit is the car used 3 to 1 vs all others. Full on touring cars with hard suspension bushings ,stripped and caged chassis, and straight pipe exhausts, standalone ECUs and modified transmissions etc.
At Art of Speed Racing we've also crafted BigBrake Kits using Wilwood components, chromoly tube A-Arm track widening kits, a proprietary suspension coil-over package that we will be exclusively distributing nationwide, and we feel that our Fits are the best bang for the buck in the nation.
Upcoming products include a compehensive aero package (splitter, flat-bottom, diffuser, wing) and some internals. Currently we don't have any engine apart (they don't break at stock rpm levels if you don't mishift), and I just need some basic dimensions in order to start a drawing and order some prototypes. Eventually we will offer rods, pistons and a light flywheel choice (might need standalone to run these). Some experimentation will be needed first but we have an engine dyno that has been languishing in the corner for far too long. Prototype splitter.
If you're doing all of that you need one of these.
