Installed Diode Dynamics Flexlight LED in trunk area

W

I mounted a set of Diode Dynamics Flexlight LEDs underneath the factory cargo cover on my 2018 GK. I had a cheap bright white LED, but was just too dim to be useful. Install is fairly easy. The kit comes with different attachments (wedge, festoon, etc) to replace a current interior bulb. You do have to drill a tiny hole in the clear factory light housing (which I didn't take a picture of) to run the base adapter wiring of choice. Otherwise the wire would get pinched when reinstalling the housing. I also used some 3M VHB tape to secure the excess wiring underneath the cargo cover.

I chose the soft white as the bright white would put out too much glare at night. There is plenty of light as you can see. Even spills out to illuminate the surrounding ground. Won't have trouble finding my tools in the trunk now.

Nice! That's a big improvement.

Dang that's bright. I was thinking of doing that with my DIY cargo cover but haven't got around to it. How easy would it be to disconnect the wiring harness in case you want to remove the cargo cover? I sometimes use my Fit to haul things in. I put the almost 8' real Christmas tree in the car.

I didn't take a picture of it, but there is a quick disconnect at the end of the light strip that allows you to use a different bulb connector (194, 164, festoon). So, yes, you can easily disconnect it whenever you need to remove the cover.

OK, I see a little white connector. Thanks!

How long is the wire? Did you have to add anymore wire to it?
