Exclamation [VIDEO] Weird CVT noise when D mode engaged

Hey everyone!
I had a Fit 2010 LXL MT for almost 6 years, a week ago i finally got a 3rd gen 2017 LX CVT model with 19k miles on it, but recently i noticed a noise coming from below the car next to the wheel/gearbox when i engaged Drive mode, it also happens when in S or L, but it does not happen when in N, R or P mode, the noise is really annoying specially when i take the car out of my garage since it is a quiet place.

Here's the vid i recorded where you can hear this sound

Now this doesn't affect the way the car drives on the road, actually with all the windows shut, from the inside you can barely hear it.
I already booked an appointment to my Honda dealership to have the car inspected, i just want to know if anyone had this weird noise from the CVT and what did you do to make it stop.

Cheers!

Kinda reminds me of slipping belts.

I would say that the CVT belt might be messed up, but for it to not make noise while in R, means it probably isn't the case. Then again, I'm not a mechanic, so I have no idea.

Hum... I just looked up a youtube video about how CVT does reverse gear and found out that it uses clutch packs for reverse AND forward. So I wonder if somehow the clutch pack for forward is slipping?

I only have an idiots degree in CVT transmission comprehension.
But my understanding is they operate using a belt/pulley like set up to create the most efficient RPM/Torque ratio's, which actually constantly change as you accelerate/decelerate.
Anyone more versed feel free to correct me.

But in short, I do think a CVT transmission does "engage" when put into gear, and I would guess what you are hearing is a belt or pulley noise as it engages.

Hopefully it's not a harbinger of future failure or an expensive repair.
Good Luck.

Hello, so i took to Honda Dealership and they diagnosed it, actually it isn't the CVT, but the exhaust system, the tech guy show me when D mode is engaged the engine slightly bends forward which caused the exhaust pipe to touch a "protection" under the car (which is why i could only hear it from below the car and not from the engine bay) making the weird sound as the engine vibrates everything.

All they did was change some brackets and tighten some screws and that was it! No more noise and also no more vibration inside the car.

I was so relieved that it wasn't the CVT.

So in case anyone goes through the same noise, have your exhaust system checked would be the first thing.

Thank you!
