No audio from Google Map while Android is connected to Bluetooth

2016 Fit EX-L

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7, while connected to the car via bluetooth, I hear NO audio at all from Google map announcing routes, not even from the phone itself anymore. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to somehow change the default output on the cell? Can I hear route announcement from Google map through the speakers as if I'm in a call?

Also, is it possible to display the Google map screen on the cell phone onto the LCD display panel of the car?

thanks.

Seriously? No one has any comment or info on this? I am moderator of an Accord forum and this forum is rather sparse with little help.

I'd check your phone off BT first to make sure you're getting audio through the phone's speaker.

If you are, I suspect an OEM software integration issue. The OEM software in these head units is not robust. Strange things tend to happen and fall out without warning.

You can also try contacting Honda corporate for assistance. But with the OEM software lacking, not sure they'd have anything to recommend short of ensuring your phone has the latest OS flash. Their way of saying, hey, we tried, not our fault.

Phone calls work just fine. I checked the bluetooth setting against the Honda HandsFreeLink device on my cell phone and it's set to handle call audio, Media audio, Contact access, and Message access, that's everything. My Samsung Galaxy S7 has the latest OS.

So my question now are:
- is there an update for the OEM head unit's software?
- other than using the expensive Sygic app for navigation and USB attached, is there a way to tweak Google Map around this issue to output audio through the car's speakers via bluetooth while navigating?

I believe you have to have the USB cable connected to the port with the little phone icon on it. On my 2019 ex it then displays Google maps nicely

What input did you use after connecting the usb cable? Because my phone just goes black when I do that, appears to try to use mirrorlink but nothing displays on the car's screen.

I have android auto on my phone, and after connecting it via the usb, eventually android auto pops up on the screen at the lower-right; "smartphone connection" changes to "android auto". There's no picking any input, it just comes up. I think you've gotta have android auto on your phone though.

If I plug my phone in and then start my car though, the phone does a takes-forever-reset sequence. So I start the car first.

Also mines a 2019, so this might not even apply to yours, don't know.

Android Auto is supported on Honda Fit 2018 and up only, https://www.android.com/auto/honda/ , that explains why it doesn't work on a 2016.

I did figure one thing out while driving today. If I toggle to Bluetooth as input, I hear the google map route announcements. But that's all I hear, I cannot stay on FM radio, with google map announces routes over the speakers. So I guess I'm looking at fitting the infotainment system from a 2018 into a 2016 or just be contempt and mount the phone with a headset on. Old tech beats new.
