I just replaced the stock 7" head unit in my 2016 LX with a Sony AVX-5500 Android Auto head unit. It was a complex install and included supporting the rear camera and the steering wheel controls. One item remains that I hadn't expected to be an issue. When using Google Maps the display never switches over to Dark mode. Some threads suggest a setting in the head unit under Video - Dimmer and setting it to Auto. It was already in Auto mode. I do find that moving it to "Off" keeps the head unit in Day mode and moving it to "On" keeps the head unit in Dark mode.

Can anyone shed light (no pun intended) on how I might get this working? Other threads suggest that once it's in Auto mode that the headlights should act as the toggle for these modes to work. I do keep the headlights in Auto mode and I'm wondering (just now) if perhaps this is an issue?
