Android Auto Doesn't Work

Just wanted to confirm that I finally got ahold of a phone running Lollipop (Moto X 2014), but I couldn't get Android Auto to work on the infotainment.

The phone connected via USB, but there were no prompts on the phone or the stereo.

Not too surprised, but kinda sad. I'll try again when my Note Edge gets Android 5.0.1, but I will likely just replace the system by year's end

Edit: I've got a 2015 Fit EX

There's a lot of conflicting information floating around, so it definitely wasn't confirmed whether or not AA, and I suppose Car Play, would work or not. They need to be on an "enabled" unit, or rather one that allows phones to interface with the system, not specifically an Android Auto Head Unit.

android auto is complete different beast than carplay or mirrorlink. there are no OEM head units out there now that is Android Auto. You will have to get the Pioneer head unit to get this functionality. I doubt you will want to do this to replace your EX-L navigation unit.

Actually I probably will replace it

For one, I love this car and want to hold on to it for as long as possible. The infotainment was outdated before the car came out, so I would hate to have to put up with it for 6 - 10 years.

Also. I'm a designer/developer and want to experiment with auto-minded apps. Android Auto would be the first step

There are alot of features on the Nav screen. I don't have a GK so i'm not quite sure if you can do without those features or would they be tapped by an Android Auto headunit.

I see your point. I might lose my rear and lane-watch cameras. In truth, I don't really use them. But I dunno. As far as media goes the features are so poorly implemented they only half-work at best. I can't get Bluetooth metadata to even show up.

In theory, a person could have success if they have a phone with MirrorLink 1.0 installed (unlike mine, which has 1.1). But let's face it. Who wants to carry around a Galaxy S4 for the next 5+ years that they have their vehicle? Fersure not me

I have been waiting for Honda's Android Auto announcement since Google I/O in 2014. Unfortunately there hasn't been other confirmations so I never bought a 2015. I did test out my Android phone on the current infotainment system, it was absolutely terrible. It had very limited functionality. I am holding off for the 2016 Fit and if Honda doesn't use Android Auto in the 2016 models then they lost a life-long customer.

Both Kia and Hyundai are starting to announce their models that will carry it. I am a tech person so what that tells me is that "Honda is completely behind the times and is really having trouble keeping up with the others". Honda has/is becoming the "Blackberry" of the cars Sure enthusiasts will still use them but so long market share!

makes me wonder who will be making Hyundai/Kia oem head units. Alpine i know makes most of the OEM units, but I haven't seen an Android Auto announcement from them yet.

I also forgot that VW is also one of the car manufacturers that are offering both CarPlay and Android Auto.

ALL IS NOT LOST

Hyundai is shipping it with their 2015 Sonata's, and installing it on vehicles that were already purchased! Obviously, it's entirely up to Honda to do the same, but I think if any automakers have any deceny they'll follow in Hyundai's footsteps. I won't hold my breath, but I can hold out hope

?Android Auto is finally here, and with it a new era - CNET

Yeah Honda better do it, especially with their air bag disasters, they should be doing everything and anything to retain customers.

BTW Google I/O tomorrow. Hopefully there will be some great announcements

And hot off the presses. Chevy 2016 models have them:

Chevrolet's 2016 models support both CarPlay and Android Auto

Still nothing from Honda......
